It's a historic place with a neat boatbouse by the lake, a huge garden with funky Leacock chairs cum artworks, and many artifacts from the past that Leacock used. Big mansion with expansive wings and a second floor. The house was meant for his wife that he loved dearly but she passed away before its completion due to breast cancer, which made him into an adamant advocate.
We had a great visit of the Leacock museum. The interior is mostly kept in its original shape, which made our visit even more enjoyable. Unfortunately, the basement and upper floor were closed during our visit. The front and back yards are also very nice to walk in. Entrance fee to the building is $5 per person.
Beautiful grounds and a very interesting building! It takes about 20-30 minutes to peruse the whole place, but it's so majestic and peaceful, it's totally worth a visit!
A fabulous location for an author to live, cottage, entertain, and write.nnYou are free to roam around most of the house and gardens. There is a pretty bay and boathouse at the point of the property.nnYou'll learn about Stephen Leacock's life and impact.nnWe paid $5 admission.
They were wonderful hosts for the market. Our music students had a great time performing, even on a cool, rainy day.
