What a lovely establishment to stumble upon! My colleague and I walked out of the Hotel St.Paul and we were looking for a lunch spot. As soon as we looked through the window we were intrigued ! The service is fantastic. Menu in English and French. The French onion soup is a warm hug on an autumn day ! Sashimi is very flavourful. The wine selection and pairings were thoughtful too. We very much enjoyed our experience. Lovely hidden gem!
We had an excellent experience here. The wines and drinks were excellent and the food was definitely something to rewrite home about! We had the tuna sashimi followed by the escargot and beef burg onion. Everything was absolutely excellent. The escargot with Gruyère was phenomenal, I highly recommend it. The staff was also very hospitable and wonderful. Definitely recommend this restaurant and i would gladly return myself if i am ever in the area again.
If you’re ready to treat yourself to a good night out, Le Butterfly is the place. It was my first time there, they really put a lot of thought into every small detail of the restaurant. The ambiance is very classy and chic. The service was impeccable and the waiter gave us some great recommendation. We ordered the oysters, bone marrow, filet migon Rossini and Cowboy rib steak. Everything came out perfect, the steak is one of best quality I’ve had so far in a restaurant. The wine selection was excellent as well. Definitely worth the price, will absolutely recommend it as the best steakhouse in Montreal.
Paid parking like everywhere in the old port. Passed by for breakfast because other brunch places were full. Seated immediately by welcoming host. Nice ambiance. Small restaurant so tables quite close to one another and wait staff have to squeeze in between. A few vegetarian options, no vegan options it is a steak house after all. Ordered the smoked salmon toast and mushroom omelette. Waiter forgot my breakfast potatoes and waitress I manage to make eye contact with suggested they were inside the casserole my waiter was nowhere to be seen. They weren't. I ordered the omelette, not the hash. She brought me my potatoes separately afterwards. Omelette was good, but would've been better with more of the garlic sauce. We were never offered condiments. Boyfriend enjoyed his smoked salmon. I think they're better adapted to dinner than brunch.
What an exquisite gem at the old port! Beautiful and intimate atmosphere. A culinary journey that takes you straight to paradise. A perfect place to share unique dishes. The presentation of everything was one of a kind, art on plates and wood boards. We started with the fois gras tender and flavourful, the snails suculent and mouth melting and the smelts. All of them fantastic. As a main course we ordered the Tomahawk perfectly cooked and tender that we combined with the catch of the day, veggies and mashed potatoes. The fries with parmesan and truffles were divine. My favorite sauce was the red wine. We finished with a masterpiece - the white chocolate heaven and a chocolate caramel calorie-bomb. Shout out to Jordan who made our evening delightful. The service was extraordinary and welcoming. It's a high end restaurant from start start to finish. We will definitely repeat!
Located in Old Montreal, Le Butterfly is a smallish but charming steak house restaurant on St. Paul West. While not having an extensive menu if you enjoy meat then this is a Grade A place to try...a true meat feast! We visited with a larger than normal group 5 of us an opted for the 60oz yes, 60 oz. tomahawk steak my first time, along with 5 sides. Given the size of the piece of meat, it took time to prepare we didn't notice since we were having a good time so guide yourself accordingly in planning your schedule. We were thoroughly impressed when it did arrive...a wooden plank filled with sliced meat, sides of Brussel sprouts, sautéed mushrooms, roasted vegetables, garlic mashed potatoes and fries. OMG...it was a lot of food and really good. We finished it off with a lemon tart and caramel chocolate cheesecake...both of which were delicious. Not a cheap night out but definitely a memorable one. NOTE: A special call out to Giles, our server, who took attentive and great care for us...thanks! Parking: It's Old Montreal so you never know...usually before 7pm and you can find a spot. Since Le Butterfly is on the west side, you can look for parking lots to the west of McGill.
We ordered oysters and the onion and cheese soup to start, both were delicious! We also ordered a New York strip loin but we wouldn’t really recommend it.. however, the other mains we ordered were very good! The lamp chops were flavorful and cooked well. The burger was juicy. The boeuf bourginion was good as well. The mashed potatoes and fries were super yummy too!
Everything was good, except for the steak. Loved the oysters, forgot the caviar but corrected and the French onion appetizer was nice. Sides for the Ribeye were executed well, but the steak was first, burnt to a crisp and the second showing was almost undoubtedly hit with some sort of tenderizer. A real bummer at the steakhouse price point. See attached for the first attempt at a mid-rare. It's next to the steak they sent out after. cooked properly, just not slightly enjoyable Found this place on a Time-Out hot new restaurant list. Maybe they just need to iron out some kinks. But, if you are going for the steakhouse menu, I'd dial those in first.
Had a wonderful experience here! Our waiter Cael went through the menu thoroughly with us. He was super friendly and had a great humour! The service overall was “attentive”. We got the Chateaubriand - beautifully cooked and seasoned. Their truffle fries are AMAZING. The food came within a reasonable amount of time. It was very clean, modern, and perfectly lit inside.
The atmosphere, the friendly and professional staff, the suggested wine, the dinners for four clearly the good work of a brilliant chef with the best products, all a result of an unplanned stop for a late lunch/early dinner, was a most wonderful pleasure in Montréal. Go there. Enjoy it well. And vive le Butterfly!
