FINALLY! the new restaurant is open at the Aylmer marina! We went on Sunday afternoon. The food was good, except the chicken salad wrap had way too much mayonaise. Our server was excellent. There was a Latin band who played all genres of music. This is the best part Open Tuesday-Thursday until 11pm Friday & Saturday until 1am Closed Mondays.
This place is a huge improvement upon the last building set here. They've done it right by to renovate. More accessible and welcoming. The food was delicious, a tad overpriced, but perhaps it's the expense of the beautiful view. The waiters were kind and charming, and the ambiance was enjoyable. Chosen music was fun – not too overly loud when I was there. I'd recommend it as a good place to stop to eat by the river.
Well, it is super nice location and view.. and that’s it. Food is average, prices too high for that service and taste. I would love to come back once in a while, just because we don’t have too many options with the good patio. Hope they will change their menu and service quality in the near future. Do not recommend.
My friends and I decided to give the new restaurant a try, and we are so glad we did. My steak was amazing, me and my friends had a great time. Such a beautiful view and staff were so friendly.
I really wanted to like this place and hesitated between 2 and 3 stars. The food prices are way overpriced for the quality and quantity. The fish and chips was ok and the chicken wrap was the same, not much interns of flavour, both items tasted bland. In both cases the accompanying fries were undercooked, soggy and tasteless. The service was fast and friendly with lots of staff on a Friday evening. Not enough tables with umbrellas to accommodate all the clients on the patio. Lots of wasps both outdoors and indoors, many people waving off wasps and complaining to wait staff. They must install some sort of system to capture or prevent wasps from overtaking the place! Very few tables indoors, lack of theme decor does nothing to add to the ambiance. Nice spot to enjoy a drink on the patio.
I'll start with the good - it's beautiful. Great location by the water, love the size of the patio. Gave this place two chances on two different weekends - while out biking. First time ordered Greek salad which ended up being romaine or a dark leaf lettuce but no feta, no olives. Basically just lettuce dressing was really great and cucumbers. This time we ordered Greek salad again only because there was no mango salad left and explained the issues with the previous weekend. No problem we were told - will be perfect this time. Salad came - iceberg lettuce, and some cucumber slices, feta, missing most of the ingredients listed. The 2 x poutine which we ordered which I was told the specialty came literally floating in gravy. I love gravy. I love it. But this was literally like a soup with french fries and poutine and bacon in it. Last part that has bothered me about both visits has been the extraordinary amount of wasps floating around the patio. I'm a camper, love the outdoors. But at any one time there was six or seven of these lovely wasps just at out table. Mentioned all of the above as feedback to the waitstaff - didn't seem to bother them at all. Probably won't be back. Will find another beautiful stop when out biking. I review a lot please see my other reviews. I generally don't leave a negative review and usually just leave nice four or five star reviews. This experience deserves a two. If the management wants to pick things up - this could be an excellent place by the water. Needs some strong oversight and management to get better. Would not recommend.
Very poor experience, but GREAT potential. I am perplexed by all of the energy and work that has gone into creating the space, and how little is being done to make it great; We have tried it now on three occasions, the last being last night, and very disappointing, every time. First, they need to clean the windows, the places best asset and they are filthy; Second: The decor/table arrangements and general layout lacks texture, interest and depth. It looks a bit like a cafeteria, and empty one at that; needs some background music … staff have been fairly okay to mediocre … on their phones last night rather than clearing off tables, serving … one was even on speaker phone some of the time; Food: I can’t really comment because I am not a picky eater at all, it was fairly good I thought. Also: No Buzz/Pizzaz. No propaganda, buzz, or electricity surrounding the project; SO, I am writing this mainly because I see SO MUCH lost potential. Feel free to call me for more feedback, I am more than happy to help out … no charge, just help get momentum going. Good luck with it all. Clean the windows!
They lack organization I went to celebrate a friend's birthday and his dish poutin Le Betaeu arrived half an hour after we asked and they had forgotten to order, piňa colada without flavor and without alcohol, in short it did not meet my expectations,
Actually, one star is too kind. After standing around for 5 minutes, we took matters into our own hands and sat down at a table with few other patrons in the restaurant. The table was then wiped food bits everywhere- seats, table, floor and then we proceeded to wait. After 5 minutes a grand pa and his son seated at the table behind us said “ that’s enough” and left without being served. We were more steadfast. Finally, after another 5 minutes I stood up I am 197 cm and motioned to one of the servers to come and take our orders. That they did after another couple of minutes. My wife ordered the mango salad and I fish & chips, both at exorbitant prices. Our drinks were served relatively expeditiously but the fish & chips took another 20. Notice I did not yet mention the mango salad. I waited and we nibbled on the fish & chips for another 20 minutes with no mango salad. Finally when our server was helping to serve some beer to another patron, I monitored and asked when my wife’s order could be expected. Alas, was his reply, it was no longer available. They thought that by not bringing this issue to our attention that we would somehow forget the order? The lame response? “It’s not my fault”. So the first time in my entire life I turn 67 tomorrow I left the premises without leaving a tip. Deplorable. Horrible. Avoid at all costs.
The service was terrible. Waited 20 minutes for the menu. Never got the glasses of water we asked when we first sat down. Waited half hour for a pitcher of sangria. The food was mediocre at best. The chicken wrap contained raw bacon. All in all it’s a great venue - water view - but don’t waste your money. Suzanne Aylmer
