Le Balcon d’art est une galerie d’art située à Saint-Lambert sur la rive-sud de Montréal, au Québec.

Née d’un beau rêve au milieu des années 80, cette institution culturelle a eu des débuts modestes. En effet, les premières installations étaient à peine suffisamment spacieuses pour montrer les oeuvres de quelques artistes choisis par les propriétaires originales, Mesdames Bonnitta Beauchamp et Sylvie Soulière.

Rapidement victime de son succès, la galerie doit déménager un peu plus loin sur la rue Notre-Dame à Saint-Lambert où elle s’installe dans des locaux plus volumineux et mieux appropriés rendre justice à une collection toujours grandissante. Ce rapide succès tient évidemment au soin porté à la sélection des artistes et des oeuvres présentés mais aussi, et surtoût, à l’expertise et la personnalité des gens qui acceuillent les visiteurs avec une touche attentive et respectueuse. Forte de sa relation avec le plus important agent d’artistes au Canada, le Balcon d’art se taille rapidement une place parmi les galeries les plus respectées en Amérique du Nord.

Plusieurs fidèles et habitués se rappelleront d’un temps où l’engouement des collectionneurs se traduisait par des vernissages monstres où certains n’hésitaient pas à camper à la porte de la galerie les jours de vernissage. Ceux-ci, affamés de nouvelles oeuvres et voulant profiter du meilleur choix possible, étaient souvent prêts à subir les éléments pour la chance de mettre la main sur la pièce convoitée et de la voir dédicacée par l’artiste admiré. Les Normand Hudon, Paul Tex Lecor, André Bertounesque, Serge Brunoni, Claude Langevin et combien d’autres se soumirent maintes fois avec joie à de tels bains de foules leur montrant toute l’admiration et l’amour qu’ils inspiraient aux amateurs d’art.

Au cours des trois décennies qui suivront la fondation de l’entreprise, une succsession d’agrandissement et d’améliorations locatives viendront augmenter l’espace disponible à l’exposition d’un nombre toujours grandissant d’artistes se joignant à la grande famille du Balcon d’art.

Dirigée par Madame Bonnitta Beauchamp et ses filles Fay et Natalie, Le Balcon d’art est une entité vivante et en constante ébulition. Fière d’une équipe de spécialistes triés sur le volet, la galerie offre tableaux, sculptures, encadrements et services connexes en plus d’offrir la location de ses locaux dans le cadre d’événement spéciaux permettant ainsi à des organismes variés de profiter d’un environnement de beauté et de qualité

À partir du nouveau millénaire, le Balcon d’art s’engage de plain-pied dans l’aventure internet. L’une des premières galeries à posséder son site internet au Québec, l’entreprise est restée à la fine pointe de la technologie refondant régulièrement ledit site au gré des changements technologiques et des besoins toujours en évolution d’une clientèle elle aussi en mutation. Le Balcon d’art is an art gallery located in Saint-Lambert, on the south shore of Montreal, Quebec.

Born of a dream in the mid-1980s, this cultural institution had modest beginnings. The early days were spent in a small building only big enough to allow the exhibition of a few choice artists selected by the founders, Ms. Bonnitta Beauchamp and Ms. Sylvie Soulière.

Rapidly outgrowing its original settings, the gallery moves a little further down Notre Dame Street in Saint Lambert where a bigger location allows for showing the work of an ever growing group of artists. This rapid growth is, of course, due to the quality of the artists presented but, even more, to the expertise and personality of the people who welcome the clientele, always showing respect and warmth. The gallery, through its relationship with Canada’s most important artist’s agent, soon became one of North America’s most respected galleries.

Many a faithful client will remember the days when vernissage days meant monster turnouts and people camping outside the doors for a chance at grabbing the choicest pieces. Hungry for the best that art could offer, they would brave the elements in the hopes of getting that one piece that they then would be proud to get signed by the artist. Normand Hudon, Paul Tex Lecor, André Bertounesque, Serge Brunoni, Claude Langevin and so many others spent many a day enjoying mingling with crowds of admirers who were only too happy to show them the love they had for their art.

Through the three decades that followed the inception of the gallery, a series of additions to the original building has meant an ever growing space to show an ever growing group of artists.

Under the guidance of Ms. Bonnitta Beauchamp and her two daughters, Fay and Natalie, le Balcon d’art is a living entity, an ever evolving being. Proud of its team of specialists, they offer paintings, sculptures, framing and other related services. They also offer rental space for special events, allowing various organisation a meeting space filled with beauty and quality.

With the advent of the new millennium, le Balcon d’art got heavily invested in the internet adventure. One of the first galleries to have its own web site in Quebec, the gallery has kept abreast of the new technologies, remaking its web site regularly according to the latest technology and the needs of its clientele, an ever changing entity in itself.
