Our 2nd time here. Probably the best Mexican Restaurant in Maine. My husband is from California. We have tried all Mexican food in Maine in past 10 years. It has always been disappointing. This restaurant is tasty enough. Nothing spicy enough for me. The service is great. Drinks are good. Price is excellent and big portion. Would recommend it.
Late night after driving from Canada into Maine, stopped for dinner real late. Ordered at the bar, and by the time I got out of the bathroom, it was already ready. Best food coma I've had in a long time. Food was fresh, well seasoned and tasty! They were great at making sure our dietary requirements were followed lactose and I'll definitely be back!
One of the few places thats open later in the Bangor area. Ordered via doordash for pick and food was ready within 15mins. They also provide free chips and salsa. Food was generally pretty good. One thing that can be improved is that the meat for the al pastor tacos felt a bit dry/hard.
My family is originally from Arizona and California. We enjoy good Mexican food. Since moving to Maine, it has become very difficult to find any Mexican food restaurants. We were in Bangor for the day and it was getting late but we wanted to eat dinner before our 1.5 hour drive home. We found Las Palapas. Initially, I was hesitant but my husband said lets go. When looking at the menu they offer online or thru Maps, it doesn't have anywhere near all the options they actually have on their menu when you sit down inside. They have a nice bar when you first walk-in and the all the seating is to the left. The atmosphere was spot on and our server was really nice. He would come over and speak with us when he had time, told us about his travels back to Mexico, we told him where we were from and how hard it is to find good Mexican food. My husband and I immediately ordered a Michelada, which was so delicious that I ended up ordering a second one. The chips and salsa were really good. I enjoyed the freshness and crunch of the chips and the salsa was full of flavor. I also appreciate that they bring out multiple bowls with more on the side in a bottle if your like me and don't want to share or someone in your party destroys good salsa by adding salt. It also helps with not having to ask for more. When we all got our food, we all took our first bite and sank into our booth, it was so tasty. We hardly had anything left to take home. There was so much flavor, it was like an explosion of juices in your mouth. My husband said that his carnitas taco was better than his favorite place in California. That says a lot, because he went to that place for years. My older son and I ordered the same thing with the ground beef tacos. Soft and hard shell options. I've never had a ground beef with that flavor before but it was on point. My youngest son demolished his burrito faster than us. The only negative I would have is make sure you read the menu to see if you are getting rice and/or beans with your dish. It's not the restaurant fault at all, it was me simply not reading the menu and just assuming my dish came with rice. The amount of food we had even without ordering extra rice and beans was still a lot. We just shared the rice and beans my husband and younger son received with their plates. Needless to say, their food was outstanding and the service was amazing. We will definitely be making this our go to restaurant for Mexican food whenever we're in Bangor. Thank you Las Palapas for the great first time experience and delicious food! Vegetarian options: They have a separate section on the menu for vegetarian dish options. Kid-friendliness: They had a kid menu with activities an crayons. A lot of food options for them. My youngest son was undecided on what to order because of the options. Drink wise, ge got a really large cup with a lid. I like it when restaurants don't use those one time use tiny plastic cups that end up going in the trash. Parking: Large parking lot. Plenty of parking spaces with handicap spots at the front. Dietary restrictions: They have a separate section on the menu for Gluten Free options.
High expectations turned into disappointment. Everything on every plate was soggy and watered down.. no texture to the tamales or tortilla.. meat was mush.. my Poblano pepper was left uneaten. Water poured out when I cut it in half. I ate most of my plate simply because I was starving and this was lunch.Dine in: YesTakeout: Yes
What a pleasant surprise to find this locally family owned authentic Mexican restaurant native to the Bangor/Brewer region. Very affordable lunch menu too!
I had a great experience! The food was very good!! I highly recommend them!! Marden's is across the road in Brewer so I hit that, too! I had heard on I-95 radio they were popular for lunch, so I am glad I went. I had already eaten in their Bangor restaurant near the Bangor Mall and that was very good, also!
Excellent meal, was out approximately less than 10 minutes after ordering! Amazing service! Delicious, fresh, large portions! Very polite staff!Food: 5/5
One of my favorite places to go! I love their food and staff. My fiancee and I aren't super regular but they still remember us. Even when they are busy, service is prompt. I would highly recommend.
Good food, generous portions and great atmosphere. We ordered chicken fajitas see photo.
