There is a rich variety of authentic historical buildings and artifacts here, graced by the presence of well-informed costumed guides. I was particularly intrigued by the world class weaving and loom exhibit. We spent a beautiful day here, stopping only to eat our picnic lunch.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Wonderful interpretation of pioneer days. Every young and old should visit to learn of how the settlers had to live when coming to this land. Enjoyed every bit of it and learned a great amount of history. Actual homes to tour as well as businesses in the 1800s makes this Muesem worth seeing.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Loved strolling around this extensive living museum, unfortunately closed that day. Would be cool to return to see the historical interpreters baking, making preserves, caring for the animals. The fall colours were in full force.Visited onWeekend
If someone wants to travel back in time, this is the right place to start. There is so much to learn and explore, the staff is very friendly and their informative sessions are easy to understand. Plan a day out with family and you won’t be disappointed. Also there are lots of picnic tables and access to clean washrooms.Me and my family went there this weekend and would definitely want to go again.
This is one of the oldest heritage sites in Ontario. There is no power for most of the village as was the norm back then. It's a full village complete with everything like a hotel, post office, carpenters shop and community hall. Unfortunately I did not get any pictures as it was cold that night. We paid like 40 dollars for 4 people which I thought was reasonable. We got to see Santa and take pictures too - not very crowded and our daughter was mesmerized by him. We went for a horse and cart ride around the village. We enjoyed the evening and wish it wasn't that cold. They also had food and drinks on-site. Parking was free and on the grounds
Had great information and the staff were more than willing to share. The animals were also fun to interact with and they had period tools you could try out. Had a great time! Since there isn't much around food-wise for tourists I think it would be amazing if they offered a heritage cafe to have lunch/snack.
Staff/volunteers are knowledgeable & friendly. The grounds are beautiful & there's lots to see. Bring your walking shoes & perhaps a lunch though there is a canteen as it can take anywhere from an hour to 4 to see everything & talk to everyone. But I'd advise you take your time & enjoy it, it's a wonderful place.
Amazing buildings, went here a few times in elementary, definitely the highlight of those years. General store has some amazing candy, gift shop is neat too, don't remember too much of what it's like in the summer but Christmas by candlelight is a wonderful festival/celebration.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYes
Applefest was a good time of year to go for a drive. Inside you have a little souvenir shop and in another building accessible washrooms, but you may have diifficulty moving a wheelchair around. Line ups for the wagon rides aren't too long & walk about through the village buildings/historical stories is fun an interesting. There was a place to get some hot apple cider and apple crisp; however, there were no apples. Cafeteria chili as something to eat. Great family day trip in the outdoors!
What a fabulous place! It's not only well kept and well run, but it's overwhelmingly full of interesting and educational information. The accompanying map provided at the main gate was so helpful. The staff was lovely and really helped answer questions and addressed all the many nuances about pioneer life. My children were thrilled with Lang so this place will appeal to all kinds of folks! The canteen was well stocked and the food was delicious! The property was bigger than I had expected! The staff dressed in period outfits were such a nice touch. I will be back here with my family!!
