We are a small animal clinic specializing in canine and feline veterinary care in southwest Calgary.
Landing Animal Clinic was founded by Dr. Danny Joffe in September 1989. The clinic opened with Dr. Joffe and two support staff. The clinic grew quickly and Dr. Laurie Milne started to work part time at the clinic in 1990. By 1991 the clinic support staff had grown to four. Danny Joffe completed his specialty boards (American Board of Veterinary Practitioners—Canine/Feline Specialty) in 1992, becoming the only practicing small animal specialist in the province of Alberta at that time. At this point, aside from being a busy general practice, the clinic started to accept referrals from other veterinarians, especially in dermatology and diagnostic ultrasound. Dr. Dan Schlesinger achieved qualification as an Internal Medicine specialist by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in 1994. He joined Drs. Joffe and Milne at Landing Animal Clinic in 1996, expanding both the practice's general practice and the growing referral practice. By this time, the support staff at the clinic expanded to eight individuals. Dr. Jen Willans achieved board certification by the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners—Canine/Feline Specialty in 2004. She joined the clinic in 2006. That same year, the Calgary Animal Referral and Emergency Centre (C.A.R.E. Centre) opened, and Drs. Joffe and Schlesinger moved their referral practices to that facility, though they both still spend time in general practice at Landing. Landing Animal Clinic is the only small animal practice in Alberta at which board certified specialists perform general veterinary practice. Besides the four doctors, the practice now employs 14 support staff, including five full or part time Animal Health Technologists.
