I strongly advise prospective students to carefully consider their decision to attend this college, given my disappointing experience. During my two-year tenure, I felt that the institution failed to provide sufficient support, particularly in securing co-op placements. The program's lack of diversity, with a predominant representation of international students from India, limited opportunities for meaningful cultural exchange and professional networking.nnFurthermore, I found the fee structure to be excessively high, and the college's practices regarding international students raised concerns. Specifically, I observed a pattern of students being failed in exams, which appeared to be a strategy to generate additional revenue through rewrites.nnAdditionally, I noticed a disparity in the treatment of students during the pandemic. While some international students were allowed to attend online classes, local students were required to attend in-person classes, despite being charged the same fees. This inconsistency seemed to be a cost-saving measure, which I found concerning.nnIn light of these issues, I recommend that students seeking diverse experiences and reliable support explore alternative options. Unfortunately, I found that the college management did not provide adequate assistance in finding co-op postings, as these opportunities seemed to be pre-arranged by companies that favored university graduates.nnIt's essential for prospective students to be aware of these challenges and consider the potential outcomes. While my experience was specific to this college, I believe it's crucial for students to carefully evaluate their options and be aware of the potential risks associated with attending certain institutions in Canada.
The College where I did my PG Diploma in Information Technology Professional 2016-2018 Batch. Very nice faculty and environment. The best and most memorable days in my life experiences are from Sarnia, Lambton College only.
Most of the faculty are really good. The campus is nice. I studied in Lambton as an international student, I wonder the management ever think of international students as equals to the local students because I have felt like we were just cash cows to the management. Even after Covid was over online classes were given to us but in-class lessons for the locals. Quality education for their children and online gimmick for foreign students! Many courses in Lambton are specifically designed for international students which will never help them get a proper job. I never felt like I belonged to this college. The management does try stuff to make it seem like they welcome students from all ethnicities but in reality they only serve the interests of a particular group. The management could be more compassionate towards students instead of thinking about the financial gains only.
Lambton College is a good place for international students to pursue post graduate certification courses. In particular the Project management and strategic leadership course is really great. The staffs are well qualified and have rich industrial experience which helps the students to prepare for the real world a lot. Would encourage prospective student to review the college website and government policies to help take a more informed decision. Thanks.
I can speak specifically about my experience with the Project Management course at Lambton College in Sarnia. I wouldn't recommend this course for those without prior experience or a basic understanding of the field. Additionally, the course's cost of $25-28k is not justified. If you're dedicated, you could opt for an online course to prepare for the CAPM or PMP exams, which is much more affordable.nnMoreover, the course did not help me secure a job in the field. The job I currently have was obtained through networking and my prior experience in civil engineering in India. Most of my classmates still don't have jobs in the field; only two or three, who had substantial experience, managed to secure positions. The placement assistance provided by the college was practically non-existent.nnBut the course did teach me new things and concepts/ tools, but they were all just basics. To succeed in project management or even to enter the job market in this field, you'll need some prior experience.nnTherefore, I advise students to thoroughly research and pursue a field they are passionate about. Don't just focus on getting to Canada and assume you'll figure things out later.
