The main water pipe to my home was busted during Hurricane Ian. I was unaware of the leak until several days later. I called Lakeland Electric to let them know. They sent an employee to check the leak which led to my water being turned off. I immediately contacted a plumber to repair the damage. They came the same day to repair the leak, which wasn’t cheap. Once I received my bill from Lakeland electric I contacted them back to discuss adjusting my bill secondary to it being super high. The customer service rep told me they would be able to adjust it to help lower the cost. It was like a slap in the face getting my adjusted bill. They barely adjusted it. The struggle is real for us all who have to deal with Lakeland Electric. The. Struggle. Is.Real.
I’ve been dealing with them for two years. They have some of the worst communication and customer service skills ever, it doesn’t matter who you talk to. Bills are insanely high and it doesn’t matter if they see that you made a payment, if you don’t pay the extra 5$ to process it quicker they’ll cute your power at 9am although they see it’s processing and “reinstatements don’t start till 2” so have fun sitting in the heat till at least two but possibly till 7. They’re all rude and impossible. I love my house and the area but can’t wait to get out of here so I can stop dealing with this horrible power company.
The treatment of business customers is horrendous. After the bank messed up our auto-pay last year, they cut the water to SIX business buildings, including a doctor's office. We switched to auto-pay directly through Lakeland Electric but with a limit to avoid ever having it cut off again they weren't even considerate enough to tell us before they did it. Six months later, they added a deposit that sent the bill over the limit for auto-pay. Despite knowing the payment would fail for four weeks, they let it go past due, cut it off again, and charged ANOTHER deposit. Then I've had to pay two connection fees on the same property this month...
Lakeland electric took over double the amount of our electric bill out of our bank account due to a recurrent system issue. I called to ameliorate the issue and was provided no solution. It’s not ethical to steal money from your customers and not offer a solution/refund. We will be pursuing this further. Do not trust Lakeland electric.
Can I give it zero stars?!?! I just called to stop me electric next month and the rep in customer service was so freaking rude. I am in customer service and I cannot believe they have “Tonya” talking to their customers. But looking at the reviews it is obvious Lakeland Electric does not promote high standards of customer service. All I can say is Wow! But it seems to be the norm these days…..and could not give zero stars….they do not deserve the one star I had to give.
Lakeland Electric it's the worst utility company in America. I am a veteran who has lived in many states, and I can say without any doubt that Lakeland has the Worst Customer Service of any Utility Company in the US. I have asked to talk to a Supervisor more than 5 times about a disrespectful employee, and after a week I still waiting.
The storm blew our power out around 10 ish 11pm last night. As soon as it finished Lakeland Electric had our power back on by 1 in the morning. Thanks guys. You are appreciated.
If you’re working on someone’s house in the middle of the day and know you’re going to make the power go out, even for like 2 minutes, you should tell the people that live there BEFORE you shut their power off NOT after. I would have LOVED to have been warned the power was about to go out. I would have shut off my pc off like i always do when I know the powers going to go out or if there’s a big storm that may cause outages. I now can not get it to work and will most likely have to spend money to try to fix or get a new one…
While I lived in Lakeland, the service was fine. After I moved I discovered how dishonest this company is. They double charged my account on the last bill through auto pay and have not refunded me the credit I carry with them. I have made multiple inquiries and it has still not been resolved. It has been since October 2022 it is now almost the end of February. Turn off auto pay before you close your account!!! Edit: they did finally give me the refund, after the 3rd request. Should have just shut their power off after the 1st attempt didn't work
Lakeland Electric turns services on for squatters. They do not require deed or lease. No verification of residency is made. This is costofn good honest property owners massive amounts of money for repairs, code enforcement and legal fees. Lakeland Electric is.dirty. they are dishonest. Not one other utility company operates like this
