Excellent place to stay! The place was clean, quiet, and relaxing. There were a variety of camp sites: tents, 30 & 50 amp, some with full hookups too. They had nice showers, laundry, playground, a beach area to swim on the lake, and paddle boats to rent. Wish we could have stayed one more night. Plus it only cost $37!!
Stayed for 4 night. Nice little campground on Lake Mitchell. Plenty of shade with a nice layout. Some space are a little tight but it's very well kept. Best part was the camp host Will, very friendly and accommodating, he makes you feel welcomed. Definitely will stay here again.
Awesome campsite. Stayed here for our pheasant hunting trip with the dog. We stayed at site c which had electricity. Water was off because of the cold but the campground has a heated bathroom with running hot water by the entrance. Site c was awesome it definitely felt the biggest and most secluded. Virtually nobody was there during our stay but I imagine it gets crowded in the warmer weather. Angela the coordinator was very helpful. Shout out to Alex who was working when we were there who helped us out and checked in on us. Great people in Mitchell, I highly recommend staying here. Will definitely be back.
The campground host are amazing so hard working keeping everything so clean and nice. Came in with no reservation hoping for a site until we could get our truck fixed across the highway at a dealership. Host set us up for the five days we needed and we didn’t have to move. Park was beautiful clean and quiet
OMG great stop by corn palace... when heading out west. Best campsites are site B or C huge private sites with a lake view and site 15 great lake view. All have electric and water. Both pictured in photos attached to this review.
We stayed here one night at on our way to the Black Hills and it was a fine campground for that. There were some nice sites there but we had site 3 and it was a strange set up. Sites in this row were way too close to one another and the fire pits were dangerously close to the RVs next to it. It was hot when we were there so we didn’t have a fire but didn’t feel we could have if we wanted to because the fire pit was almost under the slide out of the camper next to us. However, the location was great - near the Corn Palace and downtown Mitchell. There was a nice playground and a swimming beach which we did enjoy. It was also very affordable for sites with full hookups. I am altering my original review and changed the star rating from 3 to 4. We ended up staying here again on our way home from the Black Hills because our original plan didn’t work out. We arrived at 12:30 am and was hoping there were vacancies. The wonderfully kind campground host came out to help us find an open spot, helped us back in, and let us borrow a power adapter. We were so appreciative of his kindness in the middle of the night. Excellent customer service made up for the small sites and we would definitely return.
This was the perfect spot to spend a night on our way across the state — if only the experience hadn’t been ruined by the camp host. The grounds were immaculate, clean bathrooms with showers and other amenities available. Our only complaint is how poorly we were treated by the camp host; he was extremely condescending and rude and followed us around as if we were doing something wrong. One example was during check-in when he asked if we would like to pay using cash or credit and my husband replied “whatever is easiest for you.” The camp host replied, “well, that’s a decision you’re going to have to make for yourself.” He made many other similar comments that were just unnecessary and rude. Given the choice of staying here again or continuing on to another campground, we would choose to stay somewhere else if this camp host was working.
Nice city park. A tad confusing on how to get to pull through spots. Camphost had left for the season so no assistance. We finally figured it out the 3rd time around - with husband out of rv looking at numbers. We enjoy the evening. Full hookups for $37. It’s a great deal! This picture is from our site
Abreviated review. We pulled in late and are only here 1 day passing through and it was 12 degrees overnight so practically empty with the water off and restrooms closed. Seems like a lovely spot though on the lake. We walked the dog around. Don't know what it is like when full. Still folks seemed nice enough and helpful on the phone.
This is site 26 and many of the sites are just like this. The sites are VERY close together with no room for anything except the camper. Ours had a picnic table but it was moved to the other side of the camper which is on the other site. Even with my small 18ft camper it was very tight. The sites are cheap and have full hookup which is nice, but we didn’t know what we were getting into and I wanted to make sure others don’t have the same experience we did.
