We stopped to get a sandwich to take on the ferry, it was the most delicious sandwich I’ve ever tasted. It’s been months and I’m still dreaming about it! We had so much fun joking with our master sandwich maker, as well. Don’t miss Lake Bakery if you’re in or near Varenna!
I couldn’t love this place more. The pastries were better than any we had in Italy. The workers were fun and made our experience delightful!
What a delightful experience. Served by the most fun and friendly man, bought wholemeal bread, croissants and ricotta & lemon tart and all were incredibly delicious. Planning to go back tomorrow for more. Don’t miss this place if you’re in Varenna.
I read the reviews and was expecting a few more options and a little better taste. We ate everything we bought but nothing grabbed us were we wanted to buy another. Good thing was it wasn't over priced. For the food the price was in line.
Unfortunately would recommend you give this place a miss and opt for the cafe right next door despite this bakery seeming more inviting. Came here twice during our trip and tried the focaccia, a sandwich, pound cake, a tartine and all were mediocre at best - dry, not flavorful, etc - and unfortunately overpriced too. Sort by lowest reviews and you can see the negative feedback provided by Italians as well - that’s how you know.
Very tasty and nice focaccia. Tried with spinach, olives, zucchini and the normal. Absolute masterpieces.
Great food to go. They stay open during the day when a lot of places close down for siesta. Wether you are looking for a sandwich, delicious focaccia or fresh bread and sweets. There is a variety of wine and cold beer in the back as well as mozzarella, eggs, pasta, etc
I’ve been to lake como several times now and I wish I stopped here each of those times, but luckily I found this place today. Order the onion focaccia it’s amazing so is the zucchini and salmon. The pastries are delicious and the staff are incredibly friendly. Great place and will be back each time I’m here.
Pastries are old and not tasty at all, far too sweet like pure sugar and for what they offer it’s super pricey. Feel like this was a tourist ripp off
The baked goods are sooo tasty! And the service is just so friendly and helpful.
