We dropped by here on Saturday during our visit to Lacombe from Calgary and were quite confused when we arrived as none of the workers greeted or directed us around. There may have been a tour in progress at the back of the shop, but the worker at the front desk didn't bother letting us know if we could join, or wait for the next one - she didn't acknowledge us nor did the blacksmith who entered after. We left shortly after taking a quick look around the shop which itself looked quite neat but it was a disappointing experience otherwise.
Best blacksmith shop museum we have ever visited, including that of Heritage Park Calgary. Very friendly and informative staff who knew their stuff and did the work of a blacksmith for us to watch. They even made a ring for my husband on the spot at no charge! Museum had way more artifacts to see than any other we have been to. The elderly gentleman was full of interesting stories and was very wise in the trade. Highly recommended! *****
We have stopped into the Blacksmith Shop many times on family strolls around downtown. Our young children are always inquisitive and their staff have always taken the time to answer all of their questions and show them around. Thank you for keeping this tradition alive!
It was definitely neat to see, but the Smiths only make little trinkets. The tour was 2-3 minutes long. All of the machines are broken.
Cool experience, knowledgeable young people learning the trade!Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Great education from the summer student blacksmiths. All original. Actual fired smelting and smithing going on daily. Smells wonderful too!
An experience to watch metal working in action.
Went here for a guided tour and presentation for a school fieldtrip. Very professional and informative. Lots of history in this little building.
Watched blacksmith make a leaf ring out of steel and granddaughter did some gold panning. Very enjoyable
Came to visit the museum today on Sunday December 8th to find it was closed when google maps information says it is open?
