La Ferme is wonderful! I highly recommend. We ate there three times in one weekend : The food was excellent. The ambiance is cozy and inviting and the service is impeccable. The chef took time to chat with us and was so friendly. If you are a foodie, make sure you stop by. Dietary restrictions: I have Celiac Disease gluten allergy. They were very knowledgeable and able to safely accommodate without sacrificing any flavor. I felt very safe eating there and had zero reactions.
Let's describe the restaurant - a french restaurant "out of place" in Alexandria Minnesota. So they serve sandwiches at lunch and dinner as a necessary way to provide interest in the restaurant. But - they have a very interesting french style dinner menu as well. Intriguing. We were traveling and our anniversary was while we were in Alexandria. We wanted something special, and a french dinner seemed cool. But wait. They had a "chef's table" as well. Not an everyday thing, and not inexpensive, but - a chef's table in Alexandria Minnesota? We were totally there. A five course meal, wines accompanying, and it was totally delightful. We often blog our travels, and we wrote pages about this meal. Kudos to Matthew and Amber!
Great food. Great staff. Great prices. Highly recommended this place if you are in the alex lakes area. It is fairly small so get a reservation. Amazing local restaurant! A new dinner menu every week + locally sourced ingredients + unique and delicious hand-crafted cocktails try the old fashioned!! + ultra friendly owners and staff. If corn bisque or squash soup is on the menu, do NOT pass it up. We absolutely love coming here.
This is our favorite place to go for fine dining. The atmosphere is perfect for helping us unwind and relax. We are vegetarians, and while most of the dishes are meat centered this is rural MN after all, they always offer a very solid vegetarian option an option that has been something uniquely different each time we go. You can tell that they use high quality local ingredients and that the chef is extremely talented in working with those ingredients.
Matthew and Amber are great hosts and do a fantastic job telling interesting stories of where the food/wine comes from! Amazing food with excellent wine pairing!
Chef Matthew always has a great menu. Having to eat gluten free, there are always options for me that are just as delicious as the non-GF. Dietary restrictions: Always can accommodate gluten free, but also can make subs for egg and dairy in many cases. They're very attentive to that in the kitchen.
I’m not really sure what this place is trying to go for. Tell me you have absolutely no culture without telling me you have no culture. A French name but no French food? To top it all off, it’s not even pronounced correctly. As a French person, it’s a bit insulting. The food is sub par and I’ve seen the owner respond to a few of the bad reviews here with such unprofessionalism. I was so excited to see a French restaurant in town, so disappointing. Seems like the owners are much more concerned with aesthetics that don’t even make sense to begin with than they are the food.
This is my favorite local restaurant in Alexandria, MN!!! My go-to menu item is their Cuban sandwich; it tastes so good and fresh! All of their food is phenomenal. I highly recommend visiting here if you want good food, friendly staff, and a clean, fun environment.
We had a good experience here. The scallops were excellent, although the plate was a little sparse. My husband's chicken was great, too, and had a more satisfying portion size. The corn bisque was the real highlight for me. It was out of this world!!
