The reason I am giving a two star is because of the service. The food was good but a little over priced for what we got. The food came pretty quickly but our waiter was extremely rude. We were a group of six and three of us arrived before the other three. The waiter greeted us by advising us that he was not going to explain the menu twice. After he asked what we wanted to drink and we had not looked at the menu yet so one of us ordered a drink and then walked away without asking us again. Finally I asked him to explain the menu before the other 3 people arrived and he got upset saying I told you I am not explaining the menu twice. We got upset with him and he explained the menu while speed talking. We understood nothing. Finally when the others arrived he did not explain the menu to them. We explained what we understood to the other three people. I will not go back to this restaurant because of this waiter. It left a bad taste in our mouth.
Great atmosphere, great place well decorated, food was delicious, we ordered burgers and drinks. Burger was 100% beef, juicy and yummy, drinks are refilled. Fries are Mehh not really but it’s okay because we ordered poutine and it was very good. Waiting time to bring the food was a bit more than usual but since we ordered food at 20:30 and the kitchen closes at 20:30 it was totally fine. Plenty of parking places outside the place. Nice young staff, very motivated, no English. Coming back again.
This place blew my mind. Very cozy vibe with an open concept kitchen. Watch the incredible chef sizzle that beautiful meat. The tartar is so flavorful, and I really like the shared platters served on the plank of wood. Please try the creme bruler's, both of them! You won't regret it. Shoutout to chef Brandon for the amazing experience! P.s. They're practically a self sustained farm to table type restaurant.
Dined here yesterday to try out the all you can eat tartare option. I recommend reserving ahead as it was a full house when we got there. After taking our order the waiter brought out a basket of bread and homemade butter apple and horseradish which was delicious. Three of us got the ayce tartare and one ordered fish & chips with poutine, which she said was good. The tartares salmon, tuna, beef are all excellent and barely have any filler ingredients, mostly protein. The sides fries with spicy mayo, taro chips, bread crackers, salad were also unlimited. The portions are huge, we can actually ask for how big we want the tartare to be full portion or smaller. The service is good and courteous even though it was very busy. The restaurant has a nice ambience, with music that is loud but not so much that you can’t hear yourself talk. Overall, it’s definitely worth it for the price and highly recommended!
Nice ambiance and very friendly staff. My beef tartare was missing just a little bit of seasoning but over all food is very good. The fish and chips and the bruxelsprouts ceasar salad was excellent!
We present La Belle et la Barbe, a restaurant which on Tuesdays will instill a Pavlovian response of salivation and excitement with its " tartare à volonté ". This all-you-can-eat comes with its share of crispy fries, a fresh salad, as well as some crackers to go along with the feasting of- you guessed it- tartar. Everything is " à volonté ": salad, fries, and crackers. On the menu was a vicious three-pronged attack of tuna, beef, and salmon tartar that would reboot your dopamine receptors; yes, it's that good. We had excellent service and the price was DEFINITELY worth it 28$. The oysters are also 1$ from Sunday to Thursday and they have a wide selection of drinks and wines for everyone's taste. We definitely recommend reserving before, since the place is small and if the terrasse is closed, the indoor seating isn't big!
Very disappointing experience. My boyfriend and I went to this restaurant last night. We ordered oysters, cheese platter as the appetizer, within one hour, we only got the oysters, after I checked with the waiter, apparently there is a mistake he forgot, well, later on, within 10 mins we got our cheese platter, however, there is no explanation for what are the cheeses. My boyfriend also order a gin Ungava as this is his favourite gin, he could tell that other than the gin and ice, they also put water in it to dilute the taste. Nonetheless, even we got a upsetting start, we are still expecting the main course. However, it’s still very disappointing, my boyfriend ordered the three choices from the “entrée “ as the main course saumon tartare, scallops and octopus there are only two pieces of scallops and one tiny piece of octopus the scallops and octopus charged extra , the octopus actually taste very good. As you can see from the photos, the saumon tartare is actually a decent size, once again, the taste is really mediocre, I could make better than this. No offence but true. My boyfriend and I are both very disappointed with the service and the quality of the food. The price is not worth for what it is. This review might be a bit harsh but it’s truly how we feel. Two stars are for the $1 oysters.
So disapointing. I'm so surprised by the amount of good reviews because this is not worth it. I think people are giving it a good rating because the food LOOKS good but for us it sure did not taste good. The only reason that I'll agree to 1 star is the service that was great. Waitress was very nice and professional. The food though? Mediocre for the price point. We took the Planche à Piocher and both the quality & quantity were bad. First service; We took a Planche for 3 people and the first service came with 3 arrancini, 3 shrimp taco and 2 salmon wafer... Asked about it being only two of the salmon wafer for 3 people and apparently it's normal. We we a bit weirded out but ok. Arrancini was good, shrimp taco was good, salmon wafer was incredibly bad... Glad there was only two lol Second service ; ribs, chicken & ribeye. Ribeye was fine. Chicken was dry but okay Ribs were some of the worst I've eaten taste wise. The texture was good fall off the bone but the taste was poor. No savory nor sweetness, no spices, just bland. To top it off, most of it was cold/lukewarm. We told the waitress whenever she asked about the food that it was not good. Atmosphere was fine, place felt cramped and the music didn't fit the "vibe". Eminem & Snoop are great music but felt weird for a bistro? Lol Overall, for 50$ a head for that "Planche" I expected way better. We had fun, service was great generally but overall I do not recommend this place and will certainly never go back. For the same price point you have way better options in the area. Overall, wine, apps and main ended being 150$ for 2 people.
We love this place. Great atmosphere, very good food and friendly service! We always get the tasting platters, choix du chef. Never disappointed
Small cute restaurant. The food is good quality, J have been there many times and never been disappointed! The price is also very good and so is the service. It is a small place so make sure to reserve. They have high chairs at bar and a refasse for summer days
