Kraken Cru

Kraken Cru is such an amazing gem of a restaurant, and coming should be part of any visit to Québec; it certainly will be every time I'm back. Our host Phillip was charming, gregarious, and extremely generous with food and drinks, and overcame my lack of French language skills with aplomb. The space is intimate without feeling cramped, and the staff goes out of their way to make you feel at home right away. The oysters were sublime, in both variety (ten different types!) and presentation, and when you scale up towards a dozen or two oysters the prices are extremely reasonable. This wasn't just one of the better meals I've ever had, it was one of the most fun and welcoming nights out I've had in recent memory.

If one ever visits Quebec city, this is the place to go. Fresh oysters, fish and seafood offerings. The marine motif transport one back to another time of seafaring adventures.The magic that happens from the simple stove in the open kitchen is inspiring. They served a selection of Sake that went perfect with the Quebec raised oysters. Philip the host was gracious and kind, a true gentleman. Thank you for a memorable experience.

This place is super unique and authentic. Upstairs is a oyster bar with delicious oysters from all over Canada. Also a great selection of wine and spirits. Downstairs is a really cool secret bar using the existing architecture like the old brick and beautiful large wooden beams. Incredible staff here helped make the evening but this is a really cool place. If you liked this place also check out the other places they own, Patente et Machins, and L’Affaire est Ketchup.

Great seafood dishes. The salmon with carrot puree was just perfect- crispy skin and cooked to perfection. Very friendly and interactive service. Surprising how such gastronomic dishes can come out of a classic spiral electric stove! Great concept.
