Caught a Saturday evening showing here a couple weeks ago with a few friends and honestly had a great time. The seats were super comfortable and the sound system was really impressive, way better than I expected for a smaller town theatre. Staff at the concession stand were friendly and surprisingly fast even with a decent lineup before the show. If you're in Castlegar and looking for a solid night out, this place is definitely worth it.
Stopped in a few days ago while my dog waited in the car, and I was pleasantly surprised to find a little bench area right outside the entrance where I could sit with her for a few minutes before the show. The staff inside were genuinely warm and didn't make me feel rushed when I stepped out to check on her during the previews. Fresh popcorn smell hit you the moment you walked through the door, which is honestly exactly what a movie theatre should feel like. Not a pet-friendly spot by design, but the relaxed vibe and easy parking lot made the whole outing way less stressful than I expected with a dog in tow.
I had a really great experience at Kootenay Center Cinemas in Castlegar recently. The staff went above and beyond in a way that genuinely stuck with me. It’s one thing to have a good movie lineup, but it’s another to feel like the people running the place truly care about their customers.nnThe manager in particular showed a level of kindness and understanding that you just don’t see very often anymore. It turned what could have been a stressful situation into a really lovely evening for the kids.nnWe’ll definitely be back. It’s clear this place is run by good people.
I love this place. It's doubtful that anyone goes here more than me. Going to movies has been a thing my whole life since I saw the first Star Wars in the back of our car at the drive-in as a three-year-old. It's August 9th, and I've already seen 46 movies there so far this year.nnIn 2022, the Kootenay Centre Cinemas put in all-new seating. Real sweet recliners in the back half of the theatres, with comfy seats that kind of rock in the front half. I see all the new staff come and go. They're always nice and welcoming. It also isn't as expensive as so many places that I have seen movies in theatres all over Canada and the USA. It isn't overwhelmingly busy either, so when you put it all together, it's a really great place to see a movie.
This theatre is a gem. The staff is all great. The recliners are top notch. The ticket price is reasonable and so is the concession.
