The clinic provides legal advice and representation in most areas of poverty law including:
* Ontario Works (welfare)
* Ontario Disability Support Program
* Canada Pension Plan Disability
* Tenants rights
* Employment insurance
*Child Tax Benefits/Income Tax
We also organize and present community legal education workshops and work with the community for organized, positive change. The clinic actively participates in law reform in order to improve and change the laws whenever possible.
Our mandate is to provide legal advice and representation to residents of the District of Thunder Bay, particularly Aboriginal people, who need assistance with poverty issues. Our services are offered at no cost to people with low-incomes who meet the financial eligibility guidelines. Our focus is on helping people get income maintenance benefits and maintain access to housing.
