Nice park and very close to the Market . We enjoyed conversing with some locals that were there . I always like photographing the flowers and statues that are on the grounds as well .
King’s Square - Near the City Market nnAlthough separate, King’s Square and the Loyalist Burial Ground are situated within walking distance from each other. Both are beautiful and rich with numerous historical monuments and memorials.nnThe King’s Square includes a large pavilion with a fountain, great for photogenic shots but expect lots of pigeons!. The memorial to “the Glorious Dead” is especially captivating, featuring a cowled figure with a sword, honoring those who fell during Great War, Korea, and Afghanistan.nnThere are benches and tables available to use if you wish to pause and rest or enjoy lunch here. It’s also within a short walking distance of the St. John City Market. If you’re coming in from the port such as on a cruise ship, you can walk this entire area and enjoy history, nature, and food, and grab a souvenir while you’re at it!
Great place to relax and meet local people. Well maintained and clean. Minutes walk to downtown Saint John. All major attractions of the city are around such as City Market, City Hall, New Brunswick Mall, Banks and Cafes. Lots of benches to sit and statues of historic figures.nA classic, historic, and inviting urban park, King's Square is located in uptown Saint John at the head of King Street and bounded by Sydney, Charlotte, King's Square North, and King's Square South Streets. A salute to the Loyalist heritage of the city's founders, its pathways were designed in the shape of the British Union flag. The square is home to several monuments and plaques paying homage to individuals who helped shape the City’s heritage. Many of the tall trees that stand in the Square today were planted for the 1883 Centennial Celebrations of the landing of the Loyalists in Saint John.nIn 1909, the City Coronet Band donated the unique two-storey bandstand, located in the Square's centre, as a tribute to King Edward VII. A nice little park in the middle of downtown. Plenty of places to sit, plenty of statues and a nice central fountain and gazebo piece. The park did have quite a few sketchy people during the daytime so I'm not sure what it's like a night. I drove by it and the lighting looked very cool, but that's all I could see. I nice place to sit and eat your lunch or just relax in the sun.
It's a nice park in the city centre but only visit it if you have tons of spare time in Saint John. The other attractions in the region are by far more significant
