Not a royal looking place for the King of Donair but if you want the real deal ... it is the King of kings! I have had a few donairs in the past and they were good but mostly garlicky tasting. Here the sauce shines through. As other reviewers say it is sticky sweet spicy goodness that is lathered in the thinly sliced beef. Generous portions of beef with the right amount of onions and tomatoes to balance out the heaviness of the meat. Awesome food baby. The staff was friendly and accommodating with my questions. I will definitely come back for more of the King!
We visited Halifax for the first time so, we had to give King Of Donair a try. Overall, the food was OK. It was nothing extraordinary but not necessarily disappointing. Definitely, more of a late-night pitstop, if you are in the area. The restaurant was OK inside. They have a few seats but, it’s not too roomy. Service was alright but, a little slow for being quite empty at the time.
Seems like new owners perhaps... They have totally ruined this place. Donair pizza was overcooked and dry. Meat was like jurkey. Cheese was hard and overcooked. Tonys is now the best option for donairs. Avoid KOD.
ive had Donairs and Donair pizza in Calgary best donairs in Canada fyi. I've had food in MTL, Toronto, NYC. The hype for this place was high. Check the pictures I uploaded. Uncooked raw Donair at first I was confused maybe this is how they eat here in Halifax. The next day I took this Donair pizza to a different king of Donair and she was shocked at who made this. In all honesty the Donair sauce is WAY to sweet and the Donair wrap is alright tbh. None of the stores have A.C This place was a huge disappointment for tourists I don't recommend it. Also which pizza doesn't have sauce?
Heard about it on social media. People gave it a lot of props. Saying it was outstanding. Far from it. The donair meat was cold .the onions and tomatoes were cut up large. The donair egg rolls tasted like frezzer burn .Food: 1/5
Great tasting pizza with lots of flavour! I got the 9inch funky chicken pizza and it was very filling for 1 person. Our server was very friendly and kind. Would definitely recommend this place to everyone!
I had to come to experience the hype. It was perfect; the place was not too busy when we went, so it was easy to grab a table, and amusing, hectic decoration added to the ambiance. Donairs were good, different to what I've had before but definitely delicious
We loved their donair plates for years but they recently changed their donair sauce. It's like a garlic paste with sugar. We actually went over to Tony's to pick up sauce. Not sure if it's under different ownership but I won't be ordering it again.
The price was quite high for a regular donair. Decent quality, not very big. Almost no tomatoes. I know it is tough to run a restaurant these days, but two reg Donairs plus tax $20ish? Still, I wish them well. The staff were very friendly too!
No, just absolutely NO. Do not waste your time coming here. I try giving places a chance, but this place does not deserve it. Ordered Medium size original donair and got what would be small everywhere else - insane amount of giant chunks of onion and tomatoes and probably full cup of "donair sauce" - 5 cups of sugar to cup of mayo? Meat was lying out in a bowl, git reheated and was dried up as ugh. No. If I could I'd give it 0 stars. PS.: How am I supposed to get rid of dirty sticky hands when you have no washroom?? Tony's is the real deal!
