Amazing service and experience that made me glad I didn't shop online with a big box store, and instead visited in-store. I went in only knowing that the person I was gifting to was interested in a Newtonian Telescope, and no other product knowledge. Ray was very helpful, informative and patient; he took the time to explain the different telescopes incl price and their pros & cons parts, specs, and potential upgrades until I was able to select the right telescope for my needs. He also gave me a lot of tips and info on useful apps and books for a beginner star gazer and even info about the dark sky preserve I was going to visit. Amazing customer service from a guy who is clearly very knowledgeable and passionate about the stars and the job that he does.
Perfect execution of my order! I purchased high-quality Televue eyepiece and diagonal at Khan. I first checked by email the availability, then ordered by the Khan web page and got the things delivered 3 days later near Quebec City, in perfect conditions. I am writing this review because the only doubt I had in all this process was the mixed Reviews on Internet. Well, this one will improve the average and it's fully deserved.
I stopped by with hesitation, partially because of the negative reviews, but mostly because I’d be getting my very first telescope. I did my research but I was confused of which telescope would be a prefect for beginners, and mr. Khan explained everything to me with patience and eagerness to help me get the right telescope. He literally spent more than an hour with me and I really appreciated it. He is pleasant to talk to. I settled for an 8 inch Dobsonian telescope, which is perfect for me. I’d definitely recommend this store to my family and friends. My advice to anyone is not to believe everything you read, and to actually go to the store and experience it yourself. Looking forward to coming back to this store.
Had a great experience ordering from this place. My order was ready for me less than 24hrs after I ordered it. The person that came out to give me my order was really friendly and we had a good conversation about the hobby. I would definitely order again from here.
Small rundown store, with limited selection, dusty looking stock and terrible service. We stood in the store for a while with every intention to buy but we were literally never even acknowledged and never asked if we needed any help. We wanted to support local but online is looking like a much better option. Response to store reply This kind of reply is exactly why you have the worst reviews. We were plenty patient, but we may as well have been ghosts. Not even a "Hello" or "I'll be right with you". You'd think as a business owner with an old business on the brink of being run down, you'd be smarter about how you treat the people that actually make the trip to your store. Oh and to add, that customer you were dealing with was also quite upset that he'd been promised his stuff would be ready and after driving in from far, he was clearly frustrated that this wasn't the case. Stop pointing you're finger at customers and figure out what good customer service actually means!
This shop is the scam of the century. Purchased 3 items from this shop - 1 telescope, 1 filter, and 1 special diagonal. all the 3 products were used. The OTA had scratches on it, the filter had scuff marks on it and the diagonal had clear thumb screw marks on the barrel. When I spoke to Ray Khan - His response was - they open all boxes that come from the factory to ensure nothing is missing. Please stay as far as you can from khan scope and Ray. He is also dearly called as a con artist by his fellow astronomy enthusiasts around Ontario. All the products he displayed at the recent star party were used as well. Ray also believes in hurting his competitors' business - he likes to create false domains similar to his competitors to route traffic back to his own website. Please check out his reviews in Yelp, cloudy nights and Reddit to get the real picture. Surprised he's still in business. Please stay far far away. Nothing in his shop is new.
Came in today, owner was with customer, that's a good sign. Waited. and waited. and waited. and waited. This man did not bat an eye my way, not even an, I'll be right with you sir, just chatted away. Browsed, selection looked Dusty, used or both. Lost one
Rude people, knowledgeable but distant and dismissing. *EDIT TO REPLY TO RESPONSE* It's not matter of when, its matter of how! Looking at your other reviews, the verdict is mutual among the many. Latest as of early December Ordered a c6 bobs knobs at around 30CAD in November, which was cancelled as "not in stock and won't be restocked either". Huh, look at that, its on sale today at 50CAD. These guys are vultures... Never again!
The guy on the phone was nice chatty and knowledgeable… the returned telescope that was supposed to be fixed was complete garbage .. useless and sadly someone there must have known this but sent it back any way ..1year later I’m still looking for a new scope
BUYER BEWARE!!! You need only read the unprofessional and rude responses to Mr Khan's poor reviews to understand who you are dealing with.. I ordered a telescope online and made the mistake of not checking his business reviews and agreeing to pay in full. After more than a year of having to chase Mr Khan for updates, and continually being given time lines that weren't honoured as well as a few attempts to up-sell me, I asked for my payment back. I was told that he would hang on to a portion of it - for a re-stocking fee? I had to contact the Ontario Gov's Consumer Protection department to get anywhere with him. KW Telescope in Kitchener had the same telescope in my hands within 2 months with incredible customer service.
