Huge portion, got the Haddock Fisherman’s Cut and chips…but so sad that the fries despite being hot were stale! Tastes reheated rather than fresh, or the oil wasn’t hot enough? Fish was good, but also generally not flavourful
There's something good to be said about Kela's Fisherman's Fish & Chips... great prices, great portions, good fish. The fish servings are very generous, but extremely oily, which bogs down the overall presentation of the fried fish itself. It wasn't crispy and didn't have that great, savory crunch. The fish was nice and flaky, but very greasy... gallbladders be damned. With our orders, we received about 100 pounds j/k worth of potatoes in the form of chips, and we had no idea what to do with so much! Very generous portions, but I'd recommend they consider offering an option with smaller portion sizes when it comes to the chips so that they don't go to waste. It was just too much for one person. Maybe consider offering a menu option for two pieces of fish and a smaller portion of fries for those looking for more fish, but not more chips, too. Still, the food is great and worth the visit for dinner or lunch. Thanks for the delicious food options!
One of the best mom and pop's Fish and Chips joints you can go. We often have to them to size down our portions. Very friendly atmosphere and the owners are really generous.Food: 5/5
Great place! We had the halibut dinner with a Greek salad and it was sooo goood!! Their Greek salad was made to perfection and the fish and chips were even better!! If you’re passing through I would definitely suggest stopping by for a bite to eat. Added to my favourites list! Parking: The parking is just in front of the restaurant. The highway is split up by a median so if you’re going towards Newcastle you’ll have to take a turn under the underpass to get on the left side of the road
We stopped here for lunch, on way back from a Kijiji purchase, and had an excellent experience. The food, prices and service were amazing. They even opened the patio area for us, as my youngest was nervous with Covid-19. We had Greek chicken dinner classic, tasty and good Greek dressing and feta, a gyro, haddock fish and chips, and western. Fries were fresh cut. Would recommend for those who enjoy good home cookin'.
Minola and Edmin are phenomenal people! The food is great! The fish is my favourite dish. We stop by to pick up lunch here all the time and we are always greeted with smiles. Enjoyed my food here. Grilled halibut was not overcooked and rice was tasty. Good strawberry rhubarb pie.
The food was excellent homemade, fresh tasty. I ordered souvlaki with rice and salad. My wife ordered chicken club house and poutine, my son had salad with chicken. Reasonably priced with tax $50 and generous portions.
