Kathok Centre is a Non profit Society offering secular meditation, grief support & the study and practice of Tibetan Buddhism on Vancouver Island, B.C.

Story

The Kathok Buddhist Meditation Centre (Kathok Centre) is a simple Buddhist temple established through the compassion of His Eminence, Lingtrul Rinpoche to benefit Western students.
Kathok Centre belongs to the Nyingma tradition.
We are continuously working to create a harmonious, peaceful community through the inspiration of the Buddha's teachings.

We have been privileged to host many great masters such as H.H. Katok Getse Rinpoche, Katok Logah Rinpoche, H.E. Garchen Rinpoche, H.E. Gyatrul Rinpoche, Sogan Rinpoche, and Changling Rinpoche. We also offer many other events.

"The Kathok Buddhist Meditation Centre, located in Coombs, British Columbia, was established through the compassion and inspiration of His Eminence, Lingtrul Rinpoche, the Tulku of the Precious Ling Lama, the founder of Traling Monastery in Golok, Tibet, in order to benefit all who aspire to learn. It continues under the guidance of Spiritual Director, Tulku Karzang Rinpoche.The main practice at Kathok Centre, is Dzog Pa Chen Po, Longchen Nying Thig, according to the Great Master, Khenpo Münsel Rinpoche. and other great lamas from Traling and from Kathok, which is our head monastery."

Looked forward to visit. Signs pointed to temple. Gate closed... on a Saturday, around 1 pm. Doesn't look welcoming. Very disappointed.

We have pasted by here numerous times and didn't take the time to stop and visit.How I'm wondering why.The sign on the road identifies a Buddhists temple with directions with which way to turn. Most certainly a nice building with pleasant surroundings.Canada is a multicultural society with as many different faiths to worship.

An authentic Tibetan Gompa temple compete with Kora path, peace garden, tea room, gift shop and main meditation hall. A recently completed Guru Rinpoche shrine is an out standing representation of Tibetan art combined with the Indian mastery of casted bronze statues. This temple was constructed by volunteers over many years in the hopes to provide an oasis of peace, center of contemplative practice and authentic practice of the Nyingma Longthen Nyinthig Buddhist Kathok Lineage. General meditation classes are open to all every Sunday throughout the year at 10 am and the general public is encouraged to visit the grounds in peace daily.

Authentic Buddhist lineage, very spiritual experience of beautiful grounds and structures created by volunteer hands.
