King Gunakamadeva founded Kathmandu in the 10th century. The name Kathmandu was derived from a temple within the city called Kasthamandap, built in the same century. Kathmandu has become the Gateway to many tourists from all around the world. Kathmandu sometimes is also known as Kantipur.
