Should you ever get so used to the good old all-you-can-eat sushi place that you’d like to development some finer taste, this place would definitely worth a try. At some $25-55 per person, the Kasumi sure feels very elegant and stylish. Waiting time might be indeed a bit long as some other reviews have pointed out, but once you start to appreciate the creativity this place beholds, it would be usually well worth the price tag. We tried the omakase-II, a seven-course meal designed for 2 at $90, highly recommended, topped up with some extra sashimi, shared among 4 people. The quantity is quite sufficient, and holy man they got some solid slices of sashimi, seafood and all, right from the starters. Presentation is great, and the Asian manager paid us very professional service indeed! PS: Across the street there’s also the Rage: Axe Throwing, a nice place for a fun combo. Bear in mind that THIS IS A BYOB PLACE, would be a great idea to grab some booze from the adjacent SAQ or retail. Also have some snack beforehand if you do have a big appetite and not so big of a budget. Some $25 could still make a great gastronomist’s experience.
Best sushi I have had outside of Japan. Everything was fantastic. Even my husband who isn't a fan of avocado, ate everything with avocado in it and was over the moon about how delicious it was. We were caught a bit off guard by the fact that this was a BYOB bar - we had never heard of that before. It didn't ruin the experience though, but it would have been nice if something else was offered other than going to the store if you didn't bring booze.
Simply stated, FANTASTIC! Recommend Omakase tasting menu... great place of the barn path and so tasty!
Very good sushi. Many kinds of fish and seafood to choose from. A bit expensive, but the quality is worth it. A good BYOW fancy restaurant in the area. The service was very slow though. It was about an hour between when we ordered and when the sushi arrived at the table. And the restaurant wasn't even full... But I'd go again.
My friend and I were a littler intimidated by the price in the beginning, but then these pretty things came, with wonderful taste of the rice and combination of flavours, and with the soothing music and thoughtful services, made my Sunday night~ it's definitely worth the price.
Great restaurant just off the busy-ness of Ste-Catherine St in Montréal's Gay Village... It's not a big or small restaurant and while the service was good but not amazing, the food was really very good. All well prepared, seasoned and presented. Not a cheap meal but well worth the cost. Oh and if you like wine with your sushi, bring your own bottle... I'd recommend a white wine or Saki. P.S. the bathrooms are worth checking out too!!!
I had an amazing time at Kasumi Sushi Tapas. The service was excellent. Thank you for your kind hospitality it was a very memorable time I had with my BFF ‍ All the best & kind regards. -ArtIsMyAbsolute
Wonderful food, had the four serving taste/ discovery menu delicious. I would recommend.
One of the best in Montreal, it is my go to restaurant when I am graving for sashimi. I have not discovered a place that you can have real good sashimi like at Kasumi. A nice selection on the menu and the taste is always fresh! They have a lot of choices and the chef’s suggestion is excellent. Never been disappointed and definitely coming back for more!
Food is good but it’s more Vietnamese / fusion than Japanese. Also they all taste the same: mayonnaise salt salmon and avocado. Ingredients are so so, I guess it’s not bad for east coast? Over-priced for the quality and quantity. Noisy too. Service is not bad. Ppl are friendly.
