Kankakee River State Park

Beautiful environment next to the Kankakee river. Lovely trails line the river and plenty of shells and muscles can be found on the shore line. Nature undisturbed and at its finest. Bathrooms and facitities are located throughout.

Beautiful state park. Paved walking and biking paths. Great views. Pavilions. Playground. Close to town.

This is our favorite biking area. From the bridge parking lot it's 6.5 miles to the north parking lot giving us 13 miles of biking. The trail is paved, but often there's a lot of leaves and twigs on the trail, especially in the fall and spring. You see the Kankakee river occasionally from the trail. And if the river is very high, the trail may be blocked. If it were closer to our house, we'd go there more often.

Definitely good place for picnic, very peaceful. Great place to spend day outside. Great for biking and walking/jogging, they have nice little stops along the way.
