The falls at Kakabeka are of course great. The campsites have decent privacy. Of course next to the highway you can hear some road noise at night, not disruptive but if you want an “into the woods” experience this isn’t it. Nice you can walk into the Village of Kakabeka for food/coffee/ice cream. Would have loved to have time to explore the hike to the Little Falls but only stopped there two nights and at 30 celcius on our one full day we did the beach instead. The beach was rather disappointing. The road to it was awful and a little too far to want to walk with all the beach stuff. Also no sand? It’s like a harrowed field of mud lol. My toddler loved it and making mud pies, but us and most people set up shop on the grass behind. The water was decent although a pretty small roped off swim area.
Riverside Campground was walking distance to the falls and was pretty much standard unfortunately the campsite was not very level and the showers are located in a different camping area.
Very expensive for the ammentites that you get. This was the last stop of a cross Canada camping trip and every other provincial park had much nicer campgrounds, with better 'comforts' for half as much money. I don't mind rustic camping, and I don't mind paying for facilities, but I don't like paying facilities pricing for rustic camping. The showers which are free are only in one of the camping lots, or by the main gate which when I tried to use at 8 pm were locked there are very few washrooms in general, and about half are pit style. There are an abundance of water pipes in the park, but no real wash stations. Sites are mostly grass, and bumpy grass at that, so if you are tenting, bring a mattress of some sort.
Nice little camping area. I had a fun weekend walking trails and exploring the park by the falls.
We were amazed by the grace and beauty of the falls and to this there was a village function going on with their own splendor and beauty. We stopped and took part in the festivities. Different stalls selling homemade eats of various kinds and different games and activities taking place in the village festivities. We were fortunate to be present on the occasion and took some pictures.
Falls are high and steep. Sadly though, there is a bit much of civilisation's concrete closely around bridge and roads. However, when travelling Trans Canada, you may decide to use the 17 for a little detour and visit the falls right next to the campground. Of course, sensitive ones must be aware of falls also making noise at night, natural noise though.
We had a wonderful time camping at Kakabeka Falls, the staff are very friendly and accommodating. Close to everything you need. Will definitely go back there for our camping trips
Beautiful spot. Would definitely recommend.
Such a beautiful sight. If you can come during the winter it looks really cool but a list visit any time of the year if you are in tbay.
Standard Procicial park camping. Bring extra long power cord for this place. Falls are fantastic.
