Everyone is aware that Hospital parking facilities can be expensive. But at present Canada has a pretty good Healthcare System, and if I have to have important procedures done in a Hospital, I’m not complaining. I had to have an early procedure done at the Jurvinski Hospital on 01/27/2025 at 7:30 A.M. check in. When I arrived around 7:00 A.M. there was plenty of parking spots available. In my case, I’d prefer a Disability Parking spot as I do have a permit. I was fortunate to get one, as that helped me out greatly with having a walker to help me walk. It was closer to the entrance of Hospital, but still left a bit of an uphill walk to the front entrance of Hospital. On this day, it was bitter cold, and extreme high winds. The daily maximum is $23.00, so my procedure took about 4 hours and relaxed in the cafeteria and enjoyed a reasonably priced breakfast. On exiting, it was simple as driving up to the Pay Station and inserting my ticket and credit card to exit. On this day, hadn’t experienced any parking frustrations like maybe other local Hamilton Health Hospitals, where sometimes near impossible to find a parking spot. All in all it ended up being a lot more inexpensive parking here, then taking a Taxi there and back from where I reside.
INFO: when paying with a credit card you don’t get a physical ticket. You just park and then tap that same card on the way out to pay and leave. Office staff are very nice and helpful.
Machine ate my ticket and printed a receipt which showed approved. Pressed the help button and explained what happened and was told “I can’t help you” as she was looking at my payment. Proceeded to blame me and provide no solution for 10 minutes. 42 dollars for parking and a lesson learned.
Well located. If you plan on multiple days go to the parking office and get a pass. The pass is significantly less expensive and lasts a year at any of the HHS parking lots.
The parking is convenient but no in and out passes. I have to pay twice when visiting a patient on the same day two times. If you are visiting patients for longer than a few days you should purchase a pass at the hospital.
