We visited the international food festival organized here, but it wasn't really a festival . Although the kids werebnice and were trying to help. The school is spacious and clean.
My son went there in grade 8 only. Worst school for athletic programs. Athletic director is useless. She knows nothing. My son got selected for provincial games but no help or practices given for him through school . Didn't even open the gym for practices until I requested from the principal. Even after requested, only one day was given before the games They never registered kids for many basketball tournaments in the school district. Only few good teachers were there like the young band teacher who was a very nice teacher. They should give little bit attention to their athletic programs, not only to IB program. But I've heard many kids in this school choose regular highschool program in grade 11 &12 instead of IB. But new buildings and lots of parking in this school.
My daughter attended this school for the IB program grade 11&12. She is an excellent student and graduated this year. This school’s faculty is UNPREPARED and unqualified to deliver the IB level education. Even though my daughter got into six universities that she applied for, it was a constant struggle to do most of the studying on her own. The IB coordinator was nowhere to be found most of the time. She quit this year. The new coordinator teaches IB chemistry and - according to my daughter - is the worst and least helpful teacher ever. Stay away if you want quality education for IB diploma. Try Semihamoo IB program instead. Much, much better!!
Haven't had any bad experiences, nearly all my teachers have been great as long as you show them good attitude and basic respect. I wish that the school spent more time developing their athletic programs, when I was on the soccer team it felt like they gave way less attention to our team compared to the basketball team, and we never had a football or rugby team, while other schools in the district did. The school itself isn't bad, it's just it's lacking opportunities in some areas.
The admin sucks and almost all the teachers here are rude and have attitudes. As a new student I did not feel welcomed here at this school at all. When I first registered halfway through September, the Secretary helping me looked at me, and asked why I was transferring schools so late in a very accusing tone. None of the teachers offer as much help and care about their students compared to the lower mainland. Glad I'll be leaving this school in a few months anyway ! It's true what they say, the closer you get to Vancouver the more unwelcoming people are ...
