Story

Johnny G's Restaurant & Bar first opened its doors in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada in 1987, the name proudly taken from founder and current owner, Johnny Giannakis.

At the time, Johnny G's was the fourth Late Night Restaurant in Winnipeg. The first location was on Osborne and Morley in the Fort Rouge area. In 1992 Johnny G`s Restaurant & Bar relocated to Main Street and Broadway Avenue to be closer to the Downtown Winnipeg Bar Scene. In 1996 Johnny G’s again relocated, expanding operations in a much larger space at 177 McDermot Avenue. In 2006 John and his wife Cia opened a second location, at 172 Main Street.

Fully Renovated and Classically Appointed with seating for 120+ guests. With a Lower Level Bar, DJ Booth & Dance Floor and FREE WiFi it is the perfect venue for Christmas Parties, Birthdays, Business Meetings, Retirements, Anniversaries & Socials.

I always heard good things about this restaurant so I wanted to try it. I got the Louisiana chicken wrap which was underwhelming. I could make a better wrap at home In fact pita pit does a better job than what I got. Which was just small pieces of chicken, lettuce, mostly lettuce and sauce. No flavor at all at least at pita pit you get bacon a lot of cheese and veggies and onions. The fries were good after I reheated them in my air fryer they must have packy them when they were super hot so the condensation made the fries super soggy. The salad was super Caesar salad was plain no bacon, no cheese.
Stopped in for supper before catching a west bound train. Felt like I was living a Gordon Lightfoot song. Burgers are as advertised but the rings were killer good. Only ask is to get a local brew on tap.
I was pleasantly surprised to find Johnny G's open for lunch today... After the last 3 years it's good to see old haunts open for business again... I had the chicken Fingers and Fries an old friend from many visits from the past. The only thing, it's to bad that owners didn't do a deep cleaning of the building "booth benches and wash rooms could have been updated when they had so much time on their hands the last 3 years...
The big crunch chicken sandwich is simply delicious, and if you like fries, there are a bunch of them with the dish.Food: 4/5
Came on a Sunday night at 9pm looking for a good place to eat at. I felt more than satisfied after the first dish that ordered another after I polished my first plate. My food came out quick and was seated just 5 minutes I entered. Service was fantastic.
We went in for a quiet lunch... That is exactly what we got, and it was wonderful. I had a simple French onion soup and an order of fries with gravy!!! There was way too many friends and packed half for home because they were too good to abandon. The service was fast and friendly. I would definitely go again.
I've never felt the need to write a review, until now. My friends and I have never felt so disrespected by the waiters and chefs in any restaurant that we have eaten at, until we decided to sit down here. One of our friends is severely allergic to many foods, so they have to request to have things removed. Every restaurant we've eaten at has been very accommodating to their allergy and have went out of their way to do so, but this location refused to. Every item that they could eat was not available, and the items that they could order, but needed adjustments to were denied with every excuse. They couldn't even make a salad without feta? On top of that, the server was very unprofessional. As a server you should be at least decently patient, but our server was easily seen being irritated and annoyed when talking to our group about our friends allergies. However, what made this whole ordeal such an uncomfortable and horrible experience for us was when the server returned with a message from the chefs "to go home". It's not like our friend chose to have these severe allergies. Overall, horrible experience, unprofessional staff, and never coming here again. If I could rate lower than 1 stars, I most definitely would.
Wonderful & warm spot to duck into before attending a downtown comedy show. Reasonably priced food & drink. Booths by the windows are pleasant & comfortable. Staff are attentive and handled a homeless person walked/burst in with compassion & professionalism. Five Stars!
My boyfriend and I tried to go on a date night at this restaurant, we sat at the table for 25 minutes and we didn't even have a server stop to even get our drink order!!!! We tried to wave 3 different servers down and they each just said "Just a minute" and all with an attitude. The one server was too busy with the bar tender to take our order...... we ended up leaving, will NEVER go back again- WORST RESTAURANT STAFF I'VE EVER MET
Went there for a birthday dinner. The lady's were awesome with their service. They aloud us to bring in a cake and they brought it out after dinner surprising the bday lady. They sang with us. We had a blasted. And the food was good
