Oh my, Guidant John Rose Minnesota Oval! When my daughter finished grad school and moved to St. Paul last fall, she decided to join a speed skating club and rent skates for the winter at a place I had never heard of, let alone been to, The Oval in Roseville. Last night, she invited me to watch her race for the first time. Such joy watching all the age groups compete. Great energy, including all the kiddies. The OVAL is a unique outdoor recreation facility with 110,000 square feet of refrigerated ice with a 400 meter speed skating track surrounding an infield used for hockey and bandy. The OVAL acts as one of the premiere speedskating venues in North America hosting a number of competitions each year. I bow my head and let the wonder in. Check it out!
Maybe I'm a bit biased since I am not a big ice skater, but it's a fun location. Defiantly check it out on New Year's Eve!
Great place for skating or pickup hockey. $7 admission, $5 rentals and blade sharpening for 2021 season. They also have a limited number of kid and adult size metal trainers for new skaters.
Love this place. We would come more if it was cheaper though.
Great facility: well maintained ice. Skate sharpening, warmed viewing areas and accessible parking. Outside has extended season stick & puck time compared to local/lake weather dependent rinks. The arena is well maintained with a wide range of events, games and skill levels see online calendar. Pretty competitive $$ too if you buy a 10 punch card.
Great place for open skate, make sure you check the calendar online for hours! Skating is $7, and skate rental was about $5
The have a well kept outdoor rink with regular public ice times. The cost steadily climbs each year. It is up to $6 per person for a pass now and $4 for rentals. The rentals are nice K2 skates, but they are not well maintained - laces are in shambles and you regularly need to ask for a sharper pair.
Amazing skatin facility for families or for a pick up hockey game. The ice is perfect every time and it extends the outdoor skating scene by 3 or 4 months. The hockey rinks are set up for all levels of skill from first timers all of the way up to highly advanced players.
Watched a girl's high school hockey game here, and it is a nice venue for that. Good ice conditions. The pep band sounded good. There is a nice little concession stand. There are some nice meeting rooms as well.
I skated here last year and I showed up like an hour before they closed, asked for a discount and they didn’t give it to me 0/10 the ice was ok but I hate how u can’t raise the puck. This is an ice rink not a dance floor! It’s honestly kind of homophobic.
