Great School but not a tourist destination
Was not told about failing grades, a lot of negativity and high set standards. This was just my experience it may well be different for others. Would not reccomend to anyone that gets stressed easily or is a bit more emotionally sensitive.
I’ve been a student since first grade and switched during my first Abitur year. I can assure over half of my peer’s ended up either overworked, depressed or miserable mostly coming from the school. The teachers are insanely bad and creativity and originality are not being focused on at all and if your kid is not the best in written work he’ll most definitely fail all courses.
I wish I could give them a 0 Star. About 17 years ago we lived in Berlin Germany and wanted for our Daughter to start Kindergarten there, to make the transfer easier on her moving back to the US. We were turned down by the Administration there because our Credit and Financial situation didn't meet there standards! Today I am proud to say our Daughter is a Junior at the University of Georgia with a 4.0 GPA! It was a horrible experience and I would never ever recommend this school ever Worldwide! Instead of focusing on Education for German- American children they are focused on just getting children in from wealthy Families, even if they are Amrican or not! Not a good way of teaching anyone anything!
I feel bad for the school as in Berlin this school is pretty good compared to others. The interior is quite nice, the toilets sometimes work.
I went there for half of Kindergarten in the late 70s. It was rude introduction for a child that barely knew any German. I was miserable. I was always told it was a great school. I never got to experience any good parts. My neighbors did though. They were in the upper grades.
We tried to get our daughter admitted to the school this year into 11th grade. As we are all American citizens we hoped to have our only English speaking daughter admitted. Our experience with the admissions process was very unpleasant! After applying for admission to the school in Fall we visited the school at the beginning of this year. While visiting the school we experienced a very negative and condescending treatment by the lady who gave us the tour. We had to endure comments like: 'Please apply somewhere else as this school has very little space. You bi-racial couples bla bla bla... our daughter is bi-racial with black father and white mother Please look elsewhere!' The overall sentiment of the lady that gave us the tour was VERY negative and discouraging. Her race comments were also not helpful and just reflected the insensitivity that is still existing and just came to a tipping point in America! We applied for admission on time and followed the process. As we are all American citizens and my husband is a veteran who served in the US Military in Germany, we should have had a decent chance to get our daughter admitted as American citizens supposed to have priority status when it comes to admission. Certainly, we were not hopeful after our visit to the school and just received the rejection as expected. Our daughter no longer has the desire to attend this school however, as a parent I feel that it is my responsibility to share my experience and I would hope that my comments may provoke a positive change when it comes to the admissions process.
Attended Grades 1 and 2 here '88-'90 while my father was stationed in Berlin with the U.S. Army. I have fond memories of my German teacher Gesine Schütte and my German and American classmates. Was amazing getting to experience the fall of the Berlin wall!
I went to this School for 11 years....Education wise this School is very good. The only problem is the amount of bullying that happens for minors and kids with certain problems. The staff doesn't do jack for the students that have these issues. PLEASE FIX THIS FOR THE FUTURE GENERATIONS
The friendship bear is ugly. Also one time there was a bird trapped in one of the rooms it was p funny. Pretty good education I guess, but there's cops :/
