So glad to find a pastry shop that opens late! There’s also an outdoor dining area to sit and chill a bit. I like traditional egg tart with cinnamon. Crispy crust, not too sweet custard, and hot - love it.
Amazing Portuguese egg tarts! You can also buy a pack of six frozen to take home and bake them at a later time. They increased the price to $4 per egg tart $20 for a 6-pack but it’s worth it! The dining area / location is not the best but the food served is top-notch!
All I can say is that although Portugal is considered the home of the Portuguese tart, I hope this is not the best representative of it in New York. It is an extremely mediocre tart, and somewhat small, while also charging $4 per piece. The traditional flavor does somewhat resume a creme brulee as it is advertised, but it is a stunningly mediocre one. Not to say that it is bad, but it is an insult to my wallet when there are better pastries all around the city. I would honestly consider getting a Portuguese Egg Tart in nearby Chinatown next time for 1/2 the price while it also delivers a similar product.
If you find yourself in the neighbourhood, for example on your way to the Tenement museum and feel like getting some coffee and croissant before this is a good place to stop. Only during good weather conditions however as the place has no indoor dining. Tables could be a little cleaner, other than that coffee was good and the chocolate croissants really good. I can recommend.
Had their Portuguese egg tart and it was next level. The outside was the perfect amount of flake but the custard on the inside was one of the best custards I’ve ever had in my life. Highly recommend to anyone remotely close to the LES.Outdoor seating: YesTakeout: Yes
2nd try a month later. If you're a fan of Portuguese egg tarts, I would recommend their traditional & suggest giving Joey Bats other flavors a try if you're in NYC.Food: 4/5
Whilst visiting the Chelsea Market in NYC, my dear wife mentioned that she had found a Portuguese tart shop, and they were so delicious that she bought a second immediately after eating the first. That sounded promising so I followed up with a purchase of my own. There are a few taste sensations I forever remember, a steak I ate in Pretoria, a wanton noodle soup I slurped up in Singapore, a quesadilla I devoured in San Francisco … well I now have another one to add to the list. This tart was perfect. I live in Sydney but I’ll be back in NYC some time to get another one of these. Yowzer.
Amazing experience! Took our order and drop it off in the outdoor seating area. The pastries are flaky and delicious. Must give them a try!Outdoor seating: Yes
One of the best my coffee place takeaway in NYC. I’m coffee addicted person and spent every morning in 2 months to find a right cappuccino. Price/ quality/service 5 out of 5. Definitely my recommendation.
A friend recommended me this place for their Portuguese egg tarts and I was not disappointed. I went right when they opened on Sunday at 11am and had to wait a few minutes but they were fresh out of the oven and AMAZING. A nice crunchy flaky outer layer and creamy sweet warm goodness inside.Takeout: Yes
