This was exactly what we were looking for, for a quick weekend getaway, close to the city, but still private and serene! Our site was very secluded and quiet. Even though many of the sites were filled, you'd never know it, as we were surrounded by trees and vegetation. Our site was about a 2 min walk down to McLeod River, with awesome trails throughout, perfect for foraging! Looking forward to coming back, next season!
First time this week but won’t be the last. It’s quiet, convenient, private, friendly and clean. Sites are spacious and varied, new park for the kids, lots of trees and green. Even soft toilet paper for those who don’t like “roughing” it. There are trails to the river and supplies 10 minutes away in Peers. Great base to explore the area. Great spot if you can live without hookups. And a good deal at $20.
Hidden gem in a really special part of the McLeod River valley. Rustic and remote campground no power with well maintained outhouses and fresh water to boil from groundwater pumps. The trail along the river is short and steep but really nice. All kinds of shrub, tree and mushroom species here. Although there is a little trail to access the river, be aware that river can always be dangerous with strong currents, definitely avoid the area during fast flows and melt-offs in the spring. Always assume there are bears nearby pack your bear spray. Fun little playground for kiddos and trees for them to roam and build forts.
My partner and I had an excellent time here this weekend. The host is very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed for our stay. The wall to the river is beautiful. The washrooms are odorless and well maintained. I would highly recommend this campground.
Well kept, clean sites, & friendly hosts. $20 a night. Yellowhead County’s secret gem!
A wounderful little campground with trails to the river. There's also a nice river spot about 15 minute walk or 2 minute drive! Makes for a good float too. The campsite owners were so cool and gave my daughter the pin wheel off our site number sign! Do recommend.
Great campsite! Sites a a decent distance apart. Access to the river. Clean outhouses. Water pump to wash dishes with. Great spot to stop of the night! If your tenting it bring lots of padding as the sites have alot of gravel.
Very quite and clean. Lots of distance between most of the sites. No power, potable water or firewood but you are never far from a toilet. Non potable water is available. There is a free sanitary dump at Peers.
We found this campground randomly. Very cute, great energy , clean sites and toilets. Our new fav place.
Great site. The only problem is the lack of wood on site. You have to call for wood and pay 5 dollars a bundle. The price isn't bad but they never answer the phone and when they do they deliver on there schedule if at all. I've been waiting 5 hours for wood and no one has come yet.
