Food was delicious and nicely presented ... atmosphere is really nice although hard wood chairs were uncomfortable for sitting on and very heavy to move .... prices were a little on the high side but for a nice evening out it can be considered a treat. Staff was friendly. Overall we enjoyed ourselves and would recommend it to others.
**Food is really good IF/WHEN you get it. Well, the food was excellent Fri, but they forgot our main courses completely, even though we were sitting right at the bar! Now, my friend and I go out often and are quite understanding, except for the fact we hadn't been here in almost a year due to poor service. In fact, the last time I was there they ALSO forgot my food! They took off a minimal amount as compensation but only when I mentioned it I don't recall but I think it was $3 each, which wasn't enough considering we went in at 8pm and left after they closed, which was after 10pm. I had even asked for my salad after a considerable amount of time, yet they didn't bring the mains. Also, they didn't admit to the mistake and lied about it when the realized what had happened said kitchen didn't cook things properly and they were re-cooking. Unfortunately it was the icing on a pretty terrible day. So the food was great, but you may have to remind them to make it. **Update** Despite what happened above, I decided I'd give them another chance and had my group of 8 friends go the very next week! This time, the restaurant was not packed, and they still seemed to have an issue with properly timing the food. I almost asked them to put mine in the microwave because it came at room temperature. My friend's steak was overcooked and he didn't eat most of it I believe they gave him $4 off. His wife's sandwich tasted like burnt butter and she hardly ate it, and another one's fries were hard and room temp. Hopefully they are able to correct these things sooner than later, as I would like to go back, but am skeptical.
I was disappointed with my dining experience at this restaurant. They were busy when we attended. We were seated very quickly and we received our drinks very promptly. It took another 25 minutes to have our order taken and then 35 minutes to receive it. When I mentioned the delay to the waitress she just said that they were busy. We drive by this restaurant frequently and they usually look busy. If it always takes this long because they are busy my guess is that they will not be "busy" much longer. In regards to the food, my wife enjoyed her meal . I had the fish and chips The fish was over cooked. I also received coleslaw with my dinner. The coleslaw was in the same size of container that my tarter sauce was. That is about one spoonful. Very disappointing.
Service has tremendously gone downhill since they first opened. I went when they first opened and even though they were packed, the service was quick and the food was delicious. While the food is still decent, the service is not even close to what it used to be. I went with 3 other people and even though there were only a couple other tables with guests, the service took forever as the waitress thought counting the register and talking to other staff members was more important. One of the meals ordered requested no gravy with the fries however it was still brought to our table and we were still charged for it. We placed a second round of drink orders which was forgotten about until we waved down a different waitress to get our drinks. The food and prices are reasonable but not for a business with such awful service. They should also consider using take home containers that are recycled within their municipality as styrofoam is not and their LED sign out front is an eyesore. Won't be back unless grocery stores go out of business.
We went here to celebrate my birthday and decided to try somewhere new. Staff were great company, and food was delicious! We really enjoyed our shared apps, and my main meal was really tasty - and well presented! We would eat here again.
Stopped by this restaurant for a quick bite to eat and was just blown away by the service from a very helpful, elegant and very beautiful woman named Kendra! She gave me plenty of time with the menu and helped me pick throught a few of my choices to narrow down what meal I wanted. After that she always made sure my drink was full and any questions I had were answered. She made sure through my whole visit that my experience there was great and I can say I have never had a waitress who was so amazing at her job. If you're stopping by or travelling through Clifford ON, I highly recommend stopping in for a bite to eat with excellent service and a great atmosphere with the greatest server of all time, Kendra!
We were driving through and had been brought to Clifford by outdated information in search of Burger Ninja’s. When we realized it was closed we found Jemstone’s. From the outside this is a restaurant I would have passed by, but it was Friday night and there were a decent amount of cars, so we were willing to try. When we went in, the restaurant had great decor and was full except our table. The waitstaff were friendly, but warned us it may be slow to get food that night as they unexpectedly had someone leave them in a lurch. We were willing to wait, but were pleasantly surprised at the speed we got our drinks and food. If she hadn’t warned us, we would not have been upset at all with the wait time , especially with how busy the restaurant was. We took awhile with the menu as there were so many delicious sounding options. They have the regular bar food, but they also have some amazing dinner options. We had the Smokey chicken bacon sandwich and the Brie bacon chicken burger. They did forget the bacon for the Brie burger and the gravy on the side, but when we let our waitress know they had it out very quickly and with apologies. We chalked it up to the understaffed kitchen, which again we wouldn’t have noticed. In the end we loved our visit and have discussed going back, even if it is a bit out of the way for us. We were thankful burger ninjas was no more.
Pretty busy on a Fri evening in very early spring. By summer packed. Good and friendly service, good food, even good desserts. If you're looking for gourmet, no. If you're looking for a comfy pub, great. Been here before, will continue to be back. Recommended.
My 5th chicken wing was raw, they did remove this from my bill so no charge but then out came my fish n chip's, chocolate coloured French fries because they were severely over cooked and tasted burnt as well. You would think being the only 2 in the place you wouldn't have to call your server, but ya she must've been too busy for us. I will not return.
This was probably the best Caesar Salad with Chicken that I have ever had, and I have had many, in many different countries! There was so much dressing that I didn't recognize it as a salad when it was brought to the table, so it could easily have been too sharp tasting. Instead it was perfectly balanced, all the tastes blending well, and the zang came in the aftertaste. I found the "small" salad was a meal and a half for me, but by most European standards it would be the size of an entrée, not a starter, so I cannot imagine trying to eat a large one! The wait for the food seemed long, but as soon as we bit into it, all six of us around the table were overjoyed with the six different dishes, and all wanted to try one of the others next time, but also have the exact same meal all over again.
