I recently visited Jeju whilst staying in Tofino, and I have to say that the food in this restaurant is arguably better than the food I had whilst visiting South Korea. Absolutely everything we ate, from the Kimchi to the Korean Fried Chicken was absolutely sensational.nnThe menu is amazing, and I genuinely could have ordered the entire thing. As mentioned above, the Korean Fried Chicken were a must order, as well as the Eggplant Wraps which were delicious. Everything was so flavoursome, I genuinely couldn’t fault a thing. I thought it was very fairly priced too for the quality and the portions we received.nnThe service was impeccable, our waitress was very friendly and attentive, and made the meal flow perfectly. The restaurant itself had a great atmosphere, and was full of people enjoying their meal.nnWith so many great restaurants in Tofino, it can be a bit overwhelming trying to find somewhere to go - however Jeju is an absolute must visit.
As a Korean, I was initially skeptical about this place, as I generally don’t find Korean restaurants outside of Korea to truly convey the deliciousness of our food. I was glad to be humbled here at Jeju.nnNamed after the birthplace of my mother and her entire family, Jeju boasts a small menu made with traditional techniques, using nontraditional/local ingredients. The decor is both whimsical and warm, and pays homage to the motifs of Jeju island. The service was also excellent—they were quick to make an off-menu condiment on my request that I always have with Korean bbq.nnWe tried the KFC and the short rib and both were super delicious. The ingredients are of high quality and every side dish had a perfect flavour profile. I would highly recommend these items to anyone.
I feel like this place was hyped up way too much beforehand from our friends, the reviews, and even our hotel. First I don’t understand why they feel the need to charge $10 per person to make a reservation, perhaps too many people cancel last minute? I understand you get the money back if you show up, but it just seems odd for the slow island vibes.nnAnyway, we tried a few items from the à la carte menu and I would say the food was good, not great. We started with the Dubu which was literally just extremely spicy tofu. I personally would not recommend this dish. We then shared the Eggplant and again this was nothing to write home about. If I’m being honest, I don’t think I would have liked this dish either had they not provided the really delicious homemade dill aioli. Finally for the mains we had the Bibimbap and Japchae. These dishes were quite good and are the reason for the 4-stars. They had good flavor and the meat was cooked well in the Bibimbap.nnOne thing to note is the restaurant is really cute and modern and the service was wonderful. Our server was very kind and explained the menu well. The staff also works well as a team to ensure the guests water is always full and the table is cleared immediately after eating.nnI also want to say that I am by no means trying to bash this restaurant. Overall, we had a great experience. Perhaps we’d like it more had everyone not hyped it up as the best restaurant on the island. I will say they do have many unique dishes, which I’m sure many people love and even crave. I would definitely come back for the Bibimbap. Their sauces on the table were also good and added to the dishes.
Overall probably the best meal in tofino just because it’s asian food and that always hits home.nnThoughts on:n- dumplings 3/10. don’t waste ur time. Felt frozen and overpricedn- bibimbap 5/10. was just okayn- japchae 7/10. A lil too sweetn- soondobu 10/10. Hit the spot on a cold rainy dayn- ribs 10/10. So tender it fell off the ribnnReally good value for money comparatively and we left quite full.nnservice was fast. Food was served in 10 mins. Good sign.nnAtmosphere was cosy. Really liked their ceramics. Space is alil on the small side tho so def reserve
Ever since I visited, my mouth has been craving their food and I can't wait to go back!! The best Korean Galbi I’ve ever had. The restaurant radiates the chef’s passion and the warmth of the mother chef. Highly recommended and never disappointed!
