Here we have what we've found to be the best Thai in New Haven. The price is right, especially at lunch where you can buy a blessed plate of shrimp and noodles for $10. But the food satisfies a lot of exacting parameters, most of which I am shamelessly borrowing from my partner who has exacting demands for their Thai. - There's a lot of sauce, but not too much. Like a well made pasta or salad, there's enough sauce to cover the food, but not so much it pools on the plate. - The sauce isn't too sweet. This is a particular issue with other Thai places in the city. - Reasonable prices. There's some Thai places around town serving decent food but the prices are far too high for noodles and vegetables in a saucy medley. And the ambiance is cute and very intimate. In many ways it reminds me of a Thai restaurant in Tokyo, housing just a few closely clustered tables
I've had other dishes here but disappointed by the Thai BBQ chicken. The pieces were very dry and over cooked. In the other hand, the drunken noodles were delicious as well as the Teriyaki Chicken and spring rolls. They use red rice which is a yummy alternative and filling. The House Fried rice with duck also a great dish. Definitely would go back perhaps when there is more help in the kitchen. Right they seem overwhelmed. The food is worth waiting for even under normal circumstances.
This is a great place for Thai food in downtown New Haven. It is a tiny little shop with a few tables to eat at , and it is also good for takeout. Food takes a little longer than average to be served , but it is worth the wait. The curries and noodles are all delicious , and the Mock Duck is outstanding.
Yummy homestyle Thai cooking, delish fresh vegetables Jerra Rice, Pad Thai and Drunken Noodles were great. Very pleased. We got some rice for lunch enjoyed it so much we got noodles to bring home for dinner.
Such delicious food! I was thinking about the meal I ate here the entirety of the following day. Our server was so nice, as well as funny. The interior of the restaurant is small but charming. There are a bunch of cool knick knacks lining the walls. So far, this is the best Thai place I've been to in New Haven, and trust me, New Haven is littered with them. Please go if you get the chance.
Loved the food. Had Papaya Salad, Tom Yum Soup, and Shrimp Mango Curry. Even the red jasmine rice was interesting...a pleasant first for me never seen it in DC. The service was fine--the server was a sweet lady that was handling the front and back of the house. The bathroom is another story: it's half storage, half bath with no lid on the toilet's tank; everything worked though.
Yummy food. Pad Thai wasn't very juicy but surprisingly flavorful. Ordered over phone, some confusion about how to pay. Do they a location in Norwalk? There was some confusion. Owner was taking many phone calls while I waited another 10 minutes inside for my to go order.
The best Thai food in new haven!! Our new go-to. Their mock duck is AMAZING, and every dish has so many fresh veggies. Healthy and high quality.
Was there last Friday night. We considered going to one of the Restaurant Week fancy places since it was Friday night, but I'm glad we stick to the Jeera. It was tiny place with 3-4 tables and I had to wait and hustle to place order, as there were many waiting to order food. The food tasted clean, not too sweet or greasy, yet it was very flavorful and addictive. My bf had pad thai with tofu, which looked blend, but noodle was well done like a good Italian pasta and vegetables were fresh and sauce was neither lacking nor overpowering. It gave an impression of a well done home cooking with love of cooking. I had curry and I'm glad I picked medium because it was a bit on spicy side, but again I was surprised how it felt like a well done home cooking. Portions and speed of serving was adequate and it's my goto place when I'm in New Haven.
This place used to be so good. Not sure what happened? Maybe victim of COVID. Got spring rolls, jungle curry - bc they didn’t have green curry? and Tom yum soup. Mostly everything was tasteless. Very disappointed,
