Wonderful experience at Javier’s, with authentic food and a cozy atmosphere. Friendly service and great prices. Doesn’t look like much from the outside but it’s absolutely worth stopping! It would be nice if they had more food options for kids, even just smaller portions of the items on their menu, but this is not a deterrent. We will be back!
I have never expected such a fantastic restaurant to be in the middle of nowhere. The owner of the restaurant Javier serves the customers which is rare these days. We had a really nice conversation with him and the staffs. It was interesting to see how the restaurant gets a lot of traffic despite being a small town. This is my first time trying Latin food and I was very impressed with their homemade Mole sauce. I would 100% come back if I’m in the area.
This restaurant has free live music every Friday and Saturday evenings in the summer! The musicians rotate on Fridays and this summer, Comox Valley Reader's Choice Awards finalist Christy Vanden plays every Saturday, and her songs are a mix of covers and originals, singing and instrumental, so it was very enjoyable to listen to her! The staff are friendly and the food is great! Love the fresh salsa and guacamole! Would recommend this restaurant for anyone who is vegetarian and they can make your food vegan as well! Vegetarian options: Many vegetarian options, the kitchen is open to accommodate dietary needs. This is a scratch kitchen, so all food is carefully sourced. Dietary restrictions: Chef Javier will come to your table and help you exclusively choose the best option for your dietary needs.
Amazing! Ok so I can be very scathing with reviews... And this is no different! This place is amazing! Absolutely amazing! The food tastes spectacular and the presentation is fantastic! Try the starter menu! All of the starters as a main meal! You will not be disappointed! Margarita is well balanced, with just the right hint of lime and tequila! Fabulous staff! Do not be put off by the appearance outside, amazingly friendly and professional throughout!! Keep it up guys!! Definitely a gladiator thumbs up for this one!!! Vegetarian options: Lots and lots of vegetarian options on the menu! Dietary restrictions: Caters for celiac too! Parking: Free parking outside for many vehicles! Wheelchair accessibility: Easy access for the entire restaurant
Authentic food, great service and very very friendly staff. The chef Javier even came out to chat with us as there were two Chileans among us. We loved our dinner here and hope y'all will try it out too!Food: 5/5
We enjoyed our time here so much. The food was amazing. All the wonderful smells and taste of Mexico. The drinks were ever tasty. The waiters were helpful when asking about the menu. It was a 10/10 for us. Please make a reservation, though... as it got busy fast. We were lucky as we walked in right at opening. Vegetarian options: Just know they had them. As I am not one.
We ate here on a midweek day, there was a female live singer in the restaurant because of their anniversary week, which was nice. Food was ok, mostly expensive for what we got. My “golden chicken taco’s” were rolled?, fried hard and topped with some normal lettuce strips, which looked a bit sad. Their filling was… a bit of chicken. My main course was a “recipe from the owner’s grandmother” I believe. A very salty chicken filet topped with veggies, better, but very simple and a bit wee for a grown male.. Free desert, rice pudding, was very nice and welcome ending to our evening there. Owner and staff: very nice people with passion. Food however.. really needs a step up in my opinion.
We were starting to get hungry while driving most of the day. Mexican cuisine sounded good and Javier's Latin Cuisine popped up on Google maps. I rated it 5*. Flavour, presentation, atmosphere, cleanliness and very friendly personal service from the owners. Not that hard to grind and well wortha visit. The salsa on the Yucca fries had very distinctive flavour unlike anything I have tried before. The mole sauce is made in house and is very flavourful. Ample selection of alcoholic beverages. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
After a long day at the fair our family enjoyed an exquisite meal including tasty chicken empenadas and potatoes for appetizers. Our main dishes were juicy and delicious. The deep fried ice cream was so good, the coating on the ice cream is out of this world. We will definitely be back the next time we are up island! Javier’s is a gem!
The staff were very friendly and the food was very good. The menu has alot of selection and very different tastes. I will be back to try some more interesting entres. The dining room has a nice atmosphere. You need to have a reservation due to popularity which is due to good food.
