A cute little museum. Entry is by donation, so pay what you will. They recommend $8. This museum is run by volunteers and they are always trying to fundraise to keep the doors open. This museum focuses mainly on the history of Jasper the town and the park, which exhibits explaining the importance of the railroad as well as the job of the early park wardens. They also had 2 special exhibits, which appear to change seasonally. There is a gift shop with a good variety of books in the foyer area.
I absolutely loved this! Harkened back to days of old with the train museum. Entry is by donation and although, there was much to see inside, I found the outside to be simply incredible as evidenced by the pictures. As with almost all my reviews, it's the staff who make or break the customer service experience. Here is no exception as the staff were fantastic! Helpful, very friendly and equally informative. They give recommendations on some great food choices. Highly recommend multiple visits if you ever find yourself in Jasper. It's a very family friendly venue. LOVED IT!
Small but packed with a chronological history of the area. Lots of nicely staged artefacts. Very lively. French and english boards. Great for kids too ,has a dress up corner !. Beautiful book offer at the shop. I am so glad i went.
Fun museum about the local history of Jasper if a little small and lacking in details. Also disappointed that some artifacts like the Indigenous arrowheads were replicas. Museum is donation run and they had a post-Christmas section where you could take any Christmas decoration for free if you made a donation. Also features a small $1 per book used bookstore on the side.
We had some free time and are always fond of museums, but we were unprepared for how carefully curated the Jasper-Yellowhead museum it was and how much we had to learn about the history of the area. The museum has a remarkable collection of historical photos, and they and the artifacts tell an interesting story of this fascinating area. Definitely worth a trip.
Very unpleasant experience! My family and I visited this museum to learn about the history of Jasper. Unfortunately, while waiting for the manager to make a donation for entry we were greeted by two women who approached us and asked if we would like to have our donation paid for. As a black family this was very disrespectful because the assumption was made that we were unable to make our own donation. The manager at the counter did not intervene but she proceeded to facilitate it by saying “They are very kind people”. I would urge people of colour to stay away from this place since the environment is not very inclusive.
Early morning visit during train stop, only able to view the exterior exhibit. Very interesting. Hopecable to return with more time.Visited onWeekdayReservation recommendedNot sure
Fantastic, Informative, a great place to visit to learn about the history of Jasper and the surrounding area
Pretty cute museum, but we were disappointed. We were hoping to learn more about the native cultures that lived in Canada. There was practically nothing about their history included. Would not pay the suggested donation of $18,- in retrospect. The history of western civilization coming in and taking over is pretty well displayed though.
Excellent collection of local artifacts. Well presented historical journey of Jasper.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
