Great place to spend your evening to see the beautiful lights in the garden. In many places, they have sound effects like fox howl, Insects sound etc and lighting to make you feel you are in the real forest. Japanese and Chinese garden are good. They showcased the things used, food culture of them. One of the mind-blowing display: The legend of pangu, the giant who created the world is awesome. It's 5 minute display with special 3D light effects, fountain, great sound. Overall, it will take 3 to 4 hours to complete the tour. Nice place for spend weekend evening with family and kids.
So you know, when you get ticket for the light show, you can show up in advance, the tickets give you access to the botanical garden for the entire day. And as soon as the show starts you can start following the path to the Chinese garden where the light show takes place. Speaking of, the tour takes a little more than an hour, which is maybe a little too long but it's definitely worth it for the end show at the Chinese garden, which is incredible to watch. Keep in mind that once the show is done, all the people rush to the exit and you might get stuck in a huge line until you get to the exit, so I recommend staying on the left side during the show so you can leave as soon as it ends.
I was happy to go again this year but as many other reviewers have pointed out, there were fewer lanterns than last year, and some of the sculptures were not even lit up. Every year this event loses more and more of its charm. It was also very dark when wandering the woods. I would hardly call it a garden of lights. Such a shame.
It's a whole new vibe going there at night when it's dark and all spooky. Just simply walk around, breathing the fresh air and enjoy the nature. I would suggest going there by public transportation cause you don't wanna stressing yourself out looking for a parking spot.
Crazy how many bad reviews this has. The Chinese Garden is a great finale but it's not the only noteworthy part. There's a lot of cool areas and effects in both the First Nations Garden and Japanese Garden. I was at no point bored during the hour and a half we were there and it's clear they put a lot of work into this.
Definitely a must see experience! I’ve been to the botanical garden during the day and it’s beautiful but seeing it at night is a completely different experience! The beautiful lantern and light installations in the garden seen at night is an experience no other. I was in awe when I entered the garden, it was definitely a treat for the eyes and I just feel transported to a different time and place. Also a great place for photo opportunities! This is definitely an experience that I look forward to doing again when I’m in Montreal next!
Unique & artistic experience. The forest seemed alive with the music & sound displays. The “show” at the Chinese garden is exceptional. With your ticket you can visit the gardens the same day. Better value.
Highly disappointed. There used to be so many lanterns in the previous years and this year, really not much. I really hope the botanical gardens brings it back to what it used to be.
I don’t get why the rating is so low. Giving 5 stars to reequilibrate towards the high end cause it’s really nice.
Not what it used to be unfortunately we were very disappointed with the creepy native music in the background and no sculptures anywhere in sight just a bunch of people walking aimlessly with small little lanterns hanging from trees nothing to see here very disappointing moment
