It's a lovely place to spend time in nature. Entrance is free, but donations are always welcome. There is plenty of parking. Due to wildlife, dogs are not permitted. There is a small museum as well as an environmental center. Strollers are not recommended. Will definitely return once everything blooms in the spring.
Lots of spring color with flowering trees. There are shaded picnic tables overlooking the pond. There is an easy gravel trail and a boardwalk trail with a stairway lookout. Expansive lawn areas and many benches. A very restful environment.
Free. Beautiful. Super safe. Plenty of parking. No dogs! No skateboarding/biking? I’m assuming-I didn’t see any signs except a “no bikes beyond this point” at the trail entry… No feeling the wildlife… we threw rocks into the lake to see ripples, but it seemed like the geese had been fedbe cause they swam straight up to my kid, and looked at her and waited… It’s a hidden gem that locals know of. Animals in enclosures and deer walking around, the pond and trails are just the right size for a family with little kids or anyone recovering from surgery, like my mom who discovered this place after knee replacement surgery. picnic tables, seats, wooden deck area, the trail or if you prefer, the main circular roadway that speed walkers will prefer… it’s got just the right amount of incline. Bathrooms are available inside when the building is open… otherwise, port-a-potties are available may be a post COVID thing
We like it! We came here on a Saturday afternoon with two babies. Its not crowed at all. It’s a beautiful park with naturals. A baby friendly place with nice little trail able to finish the walk. Will revisit again for picnic!
Lots of parking within the gates, portable restrooms, some rehab birds and a woodland trail. No dogs allowed there is a resident heard of deer. No playground equipment or sport games allowed.
Excellent place to walk, have a picnic and see some animals. There is wildlife and a few birds like peacocks and owls in enclosures. Nature walking trails are short and easy to navigate. Nature lovers will like the signs and tree markings with information.
Beautiful trails, totally free and you can see an array of turtles inside the building and a few birds outside- wish that they had more enclosures filled with more but overall nice place. 4 star rating is because I encountered a man/employee in a bulldozer truck today- who rudely told me “Do NOT Feed the Deer” The park clearly states in numerous signs not to feed the wild life- I read the signs, and wouldn’t disobey the rules- also I have Never fed a deer in my entire life, ever- I realize that they are wild and need to not trust people… It would of been fine if he passed by and said please don’t feed the deer which we weren’t- just merely taking pics while sitting in the car I told him that we weren’t feeding them and he continued to repeat his statement in his ride tone, ignoring what I had just said. There is NO Need to be rude- this man does not need to be rude and deter people from this beautiful place!!!
My favorite place to go to connect with nature. The staff are so informative and are always willing to explain anything and everything to do with the animals and the environment. Highly recommend this place if you want to escape into the woods and find some peace.
We took our grandson there for an outdoor activity, boy oh boy were we pleasantly surprised! It is perhaps one of the most beautiful parks in NJ! It is well worth visiting. So much to do! And to top it off, there was a group of parents, with there children for a Pokémon Go event. We were welcomed to join with them. I highly recommend it!!
A wonderful place to view wildlife or just take a quiet stroll.
