Warning to solo lady travellers! Try to avoid this airport if you’re passing through with an overnight connection, unless you can afford a $300 hotel. I arrived at 11pm and had a connecting flight at 9am, so I planned to snooze in the airport for the night. At 11:30, a security guard asked me to leave and said that the international terminal closes from 11:30pm-2:30am every night. I was also told that the domestic terminal closes until 4am. A group of us with connective flights in the morning were directed to wait in the parking lot until they opened again. It was nearly freezing outside. Did not feel safe at all as I was travelling alone. 2 stars because the staff were nice.
After traveling for a medical procedure with my partner, we required assistance getting off the plane and settled. Air Canada staff hurried me off the plane while I'm carrying luggage for 2 and trying to help my partner who had major surgery 2 days ago had to travel for it. The staff didn't bother to offer to help with our bags until after complaining that I was going too slowly. Airport staff assisted with the wheelchair when we got off the plane. We got asked if there's any checked bags we need to pick up and then we were dumped like trash. Another passenger thankfully was gracious and assisted us by rolling the suitcase while I helped my partner in the airport wheelchair to get outside to wait for our ride. Its an incredibly small airport so it would have taken under 5 minutes for a staff member to assist us properly. I spoke to the staff member when I went back inside to return the wheelchair and told them that another passenger had to help us because we were just dumped and the staff said they only have 30 minutes to clear the plane and they had to go back to assist another passenger. Sounds like either more staff are required or more time to deplane when there are multiple passengers requiring physical assistance. Other times when I have traveled alone without requiring assistance, it's usually as good as any other small airport.
Small airport between Sydney and Glace Bay is a great airport. Family come to visit us often and love flying into this airport. Fast check-in, great parking lot remember to bring coins if you're staying a while to say your goodbyes, and very friendly staff.
It's great flying put of Cape Breton - Unama'ki from the J.A. Douglas McCurdy Airport in Sydney. A comfortable a small airport with direct connections to Montréal, Toronto and Halifax, it is super convenient for locals and visitors both.
Got there nothing was open couldnt get hot coffee .plane was late 1hr .they told me that i would still make my connecting flight .and got stranded in montreal 25th .26 until 29 ... sad .
Check in went smoothly. Has a nice lounge and cafe bar before going through security. Not too busy and it is the smallest airport I have ever been too, which was nice and less hectic comparing to other airports I have been too.
Nice little airport, still under Covid-19 restrictions but very friendly people working out there. More flights are being added so business will pick up.
Small town airport. Easy to get around. Friendly staff. Coffee was so-so. They should be able to do better.
Flown here since I was a teenager. Also have taken a few commercial flights out. Great service in the terminal. The contracted taxi service leaves a lot to be desired. Rude, don't take plastic, and not very welcoming. Do yourself a favor and rent a car or have a friend pick you up.
The airport seems good. Very friendly staff and they made it really easy to show proof of vaccination when coming in. The challenge is the contract they have for taxis. I spent 2 hours waiting for a taxi last night and when talking to locals and the airport staff it seems like this is common.
