Very disappointed and I won't ever come back. While this site might be good for campers who like to boat numerous ramps and docks, it is a poor choice for many others that don't boat. The site maintenance is very poor compared to Provincial parks. Now I understand why the website has NO pictures of their campsites. They aren't that good. Marketing has purposefully decided not to show the sites for fear of few people booking them. Very little tree cover. Close to your neighbors in many cases. There are a few nice spots but they are few and no doubt get booked at the very beginning of the season. But those aren't the serviced lots. A lot of the campsites are highly vulnerable to the next door US bridge and its constant day and night trucks starting up and using their noisy Jake brakes to slow down. This is the most frustrating part. It shatters the peace. Once and a while a waft of sewer gas would float over our campsite, due to the poorly maintained sewage dump site. A lot of the sites have little shade during the day. Our water tap constantly leaked because it needed repair. The washrooms and showers 3 are few, and they are a total embarrassment. Some showers had no shower heads !, just black moldy pipes. The rooms are in very poor disrepair. Rusty doors, old tile. Plumbing that doesn't work properly. Basically third world. How Parks management can think this is acceptable for humans let alone paying customers is beyond me, especially considering what you pay for the lousy lots. No spots around the site to put your garbage. Very few water fill taps. On and on the negative aspects of the park goes. Do yourself a favor, stay somewhere else and enjoy your outdoor stay.
It's a nice little spot. As stated in many reviews, avoid the bridge area. I am also concerned about the max driving speed on the campground 15 km/h as people tend to speed in any conditions. Other than that, there aren't a whole lot of bathrooms considering there aren't any fully serviced sites. I wouldn't come back with my travel trailer honestly. I might come back in one of the cabins, and bring the boat instead.
Some sites are very nice and roomy others are very small and tight together. Be careful when choosing a site as the road noise from the bridge is 24/7 and is quite loud at times. There was supposed to be wifi but no information was provided as to the password. The onsite water is a huge bonus
Went there for the first time during the Xmas holidays after the big storm of 2022 when the camp is closed to walk my dog and explore the grounds. Had a good hike. Don't know if I would camp here because the campsites are exposed.
We stayed at several St Lawrence Park campgrounds on our bicycle tour of Ontario. This campground is nice but the employee at the check-in was lazy and would not check us in at 5:45 when the sign clearly said office was open until 6. She said we should go online to pay for the campsite, which cost an extra $12.50 for an “advanced reservation”!! I did not want to make an advanced reservation…I was standing in the office and simply wanted to pay for my campsite for the night. All she had to do was turn her computer back on!!
It was a great area to relax. The staff were very understanding and pleasant. They picked the perfect site for us. Thank you for a fun Labor day weekend!
Great park with many sites capable of handling large trailers but also not just a big field. Lots of trees. Cons; very close to highway and bridge to the US so there is quite a bit of traffic noise. Only reason I could not give 5 stars. Many sites do not hold up well to rain. A lot of mud and after heavy rain leads to a lot of stuck trailers. Thankfully lots of helpful campers and staff to get you out.
This review is specifically for site #108 - though I can see why others would rate the campground much lower depending on the location of their site in proximity to the bridge! First, site #108: it was fantastic; right on the water with plenty of flat ground to set up a large tent see pics. It didn't hurt that the weather was perfect for our three nights! We liked it so much we booked another three nights to go back in September. It is about a 50m walk from your parking to your site down a hill with four or five stone steps, not difficult if you are able bodied, but you do have to hump all your gear down, and back up - but so worth it for the view. Bridge noise is an occasional, distant rumble, but be aware there is lots of boat and seadoo traffic in the channel, so it's not the peace and quiet of an isolated backwoods lake. It fronts directly on Whirlpool channel and the current varies between 2 to 3 kts. I was comfortable swimming - and you can dive right off the wall into 8 to 10' of water - but would not recommend unless you are a strong swimmer; an inexperienced person could quickly end up in trouble, as well as a km or two down river, very quickly! General comments: To counter other general comments, we found all the staff to be very friendly and all facilities to be generally very clean toilets, showers, porta-potties. Walking around the campground it has sites I'd rate from 1 star under the bridge up to 5 stars, like our site, so be aware when choosing your site. Unfortunately the are no pictures, you just have a map of the campground to use to try to make an informed choice. For example, site 109, right next to 108, is one I'd rate maybe 3.5 stars - it has the same fantastic view, but about a third of the space in general, and the area for a tent is much smaller and not quite level.
@i am always write, this review is exactly right. Terrible customer service , Jack pot trying to register, forces u and trailer into a parking area that u must back out and leave the park, then return to get in line with the keyed gate. Leaving gate would not open, had to back out and use the in gate, could have put a cone up??.
A very nice spot where I stayed at #115 . Other spots looked like they had a very open area so you could see your temporary neighbors. However I was calling in a slope! The only thing everyone hates there is the campsite is under the bridge from Canada to the USA.... I'm deaf so I have no idea!! The beach is also pretty nice! You could see vessels cursing the st Lawrence along with boats and water jets. But the water is ICY COLD to even dip then swim!!! That's an okay kind of area to get a tiny gateway?? Expect to be in busy city areas.
