If you’re thinking of buying a cake from here, DON’T. A homemade or ANY grocery store cake would be higher quality and promising than what Mercato is making.nnThe cake looks better than it tastes it’s giving toddler learning how to write buttercream is clearly grainy, unmixed and the chocolate cake is dense, dry and crumbly.nnWhoever baked this clearly stopped mixing halfway through, is most likely allergic to hazelnut/Nutella, and just hoped for the best… it tastes like butter, egg and sugar. Whoever’s in your kitchen clearly lied on their resume. Embarrassing.
The good: there is a great selection of cheese and meats and the manager working that area was very nice and knowledgeable.nThe not-so great but expected: this is a premium store and prices reflect that. It depends on the items. Found good, cold pressed olive oil for a competitive price, but then the German Ritter Sport chocolate is $5.99 a bar.nThe bad: had multiple disappointing items from the bakery. Needed to return a pastry that was too dry and old to finish. Picked up a whole pie after confirming with the staff that the filling was not from a can, only to find out at home that it obviously was. The store later confirmed this upon inquiry, but offered no apology or compensation and instead justified the practice citing costs when the $15 pie was supposedly a premium product one can find at any other grocery store for less than $10.
Mercato Italian Bakery is one of those places that’s become part of our weekly routine — and for good reason. Everything is consistently fresh, authentic, and absolutely delicious.nnOur must-haves every visit are the fresh pitas, the Spanish dip so good, and their fresh pasta — you can truly taste the quality. The cheese and meat selection is incredible too, perfect whether you’re planning a quick dinner or putting together a next-level charcuterie board.nnThe quality never misses, and it’s the kind of place you walk into knowing you’ll leave inspired and well fed. A total staple for us — highly recommend!
Marian that works in the bakery was so very helpful. She clarified my order for me despite me not having perfect English.And my order came out perfectly accurate.
So filled with fun things! I am not an a person of Italian origins, but it was a delight to look at the delicious things. The cabinet is filled with baked goods, cake and pastries, to the point it was hard to choose what to try frirst. My only complaint was that the last cream puff left was on the dry and hard side? I'll try something else next time. There was live music when we were there, a man with an accordion playing Italian I assume! music and that was delightful. I want to try the fresh noodles next time you can see them making them!
