The food. The rooms. We really had a wonderful time. We felt welcome.we will return soon.
We had an amazing experience! We arrived early to have a cocktail before dinner and were immediately seated in front of the fireplace in the main dining room. The ambience could not have been better. The drink menu was extensive with a surprise VT craft bourbon on the list! Entrees were fabulous duck prepared perfectly - not always the case when eating out - my guest had deliciously prepared salmon. The service was impeccable - VERY attentive and friendly! An easy ride from the Burlington area - and well worth it!
The Inn has quickly become a favorite place to stay in Vermont, while skiing or hiking in the Mad River Valley. Accommodations are cozy and welcoming, analogous to having excellent chocolate chip cookies available at all times in a cookie jar in the hallway upstairs. Breakfast here is included and fantastic. Highly recommend planning to have dinner or at least cocktails here, as well. Every course has been stellar in the 5 meals we have had here! Laura Mack, manager of the bar and events, is a particular delight and very talented mixologist and ice cream creator lulu ice cream, rated best in VT. We plan to return here again and again for the ambiance and unbeatable hospitality!
I attended an anniversary party held outside under a tent and in the barn. The staff was friendly, the food was delicious and non-alcoholic drinks were cold and plentiful. I didn't purchase alcohol, so no comments on the bar service. It was miserably hot outside, and the small portable fans in the barn did little to help. Staff and guests were cheerful despite the weather. Would go back on my own for dinner anytime.
I love Mary’s! We have been staying at the Inn at Baldwin Creek for three Middlebury graduations and could not be more in love with the Inn, the incredible food locally sourced, sustainably produced, incredibly delicious and the wonderful owners Doug and Linda who made sure our stay was perfect. The rooms are clean, the beds are extremely comfortable and the walls are decorated with paintings by local artists. The bear-shaped cookie jar on the second floor which is always full of THE BEST soft chocolate chip cookies is not to be missed! Doug’s scones are the best on the planet and I lived in London for several years. All of the food at Mary’s is to die for, but start with the famous garlic soup! Also be sure to try the local Switchback beer on tap. I could not recommend this inn / restaurant more!!
Excellent dinner in this quiet restaurant. This old place is located in the middle of the countryside, and hides a very nice restaurant wich offers continental cuisine. We even could have a French white Pouilly Fuissé wine. A very good memory indeed.Service: 4/5
Such a charming place for dinner or brunch. They source their ingredients locally and prepare it well. They have a good and well stocked bar and make delicious cocktails. They have movie nights in the barn, a beautiful space.
Very cozy, well kept restaurant and inn! We went for thanksgiving and the options for food were amazing! There were so many choices, and the food was top notch. Highly recommend going here with family. The only issue is that it’s somewhat far from civilization.
Only ate at the restaurant - did not stay at the hotel. The service was curt and rude, and ignored my partner and I. The portion sizes were tiny for the price. A quartered head of lettuce does not constitute a salad. After we ate, no waiters came to offer our bill even after a long wait, despite them serving other tables. We were forced to stand and ask for our check, which no other group had to do. This is literally the first place that has inspired me to write a negative review - we left with such a sour taste, unwelcome feeling, I could not reccomend this less. One star for good pork belly.
An oasis... Linda & Doug are the innkeepers. They’ve got cozy, immaculate, nicely appointed rooms. The entry level of the inn is where you’ll find Mary’s Restaurant. Cheffed by Doug Mack himself mostly. In my opinion one of the best restaurants in Vermont. This is a SLOW food establishment. That’s sustainable, local, organic and wild. Check out their menu as well as future cooking classes on line. I suggest a starter of garlic soup.... Skip the cup , order a bowl.
