Unfortunately the staff turn over is very high so there is no experienced people on the floor. asked 4 people for the location of an item but no answer!! Many times they have mistakes at the cashier double count the items or not applying certain specials on the items last time this happened is TODAY. Vegetables and fruits are not always fresh , some items get expired on the shelf without removing it from the shelf happened with me 3 times any other big store would more respect his clients.... very disappointed
Nice place, clean. Prices are high and sometimes confusing.
Horrible experience at this grocery store. My 84 year-old mother-in-law was shopping with her spouse, they always used to shop here and were very happy with the products and service. She was carrying a box of granola bars in her hand while her spouse was pushing the cart and she mindlessly put them in her handbag. They paid for the groceries but she forgot about the box of granola bars in her bag. A security guard came and made a huge scene, took her to the back room and started interrogating her in an intimidating tone, asking her weight and height as if she were a criminal. She tried to explain to him that she did not mean to steal that she simply forgot she had them in her bag French is not her first language but she is able to explain herself but he insisted that he is calling the police to arrest her. All this for a $2 box of granola bars. The police were shocked when they saw who they were coming to arrest. I feel this “security guard” has “mall-cop syndrome” and should be fined for wasting the time of hard working law enforcement. My mother-in-law is traumatized by this event. Unfortunately, I will no longer be shopping at any IGA. I have a family of 5, IGA used to be my favourite grocery store, and I usually spend minimum $500-$600 per month in groceries. We have a very big extended family, most have minimum 2 kids and they all spend minimum $500 per month at IGA. We have notified all our family and friends of this experience and, in solidarity, no member of this family or friend circle will ever shop at IGA again after the horrifying way my 84 year old confused mother-in-law was treated. The security guard should have used common sense or empathy at the very least in such a situation. I still can’t believe how poorly he handled it. Hoping an administrator from head office will see my review and investigate further into how elderly shoppers are being treated at this IGA.
Clean and great selection and staff.
A woman over 80 years old was accused of stealing a “cereal bar” because she forgot she put it on her purse at the store meanwhile her partner was buying other things. She told the security guard that at her age is easy to forget things and that she have money enough to buy many of those cereal bars… She just forgot. She usually buy those to keep her sugar levels good because of diabetes, the security guard didn’t want to reason and called the police of Blainville instead of understanding her. She was interrogated at the administration office of the store, she never resisted or even try to get away… She was scared.nnThe police arrived, the police interrogated her in the rear seat of the patrol car and set her free after listening but IGA banned her from going there after she buy from them for many many years, she lives close to that store and is the closest to go for her age and restricted mobility due to her age.nnThe security guard told the police that he wanted to testify against her as if she really wanted to steal something and never wanted to listen or understand her… SHE IS OVER 80 YEARS OLD COME ON!! At that age you can create a decompensation or even a heart attack by putting an old person in such stress.nnWhy do you hire security agents that are not capable of reasoning, she is now traumatized and the IGA supervisor never wanted to listen to her and he walked away. Legal actions are being consulted for discrimination and for the humiliation of this lady of good education that had to live at her age after being a loyal customer for years of that store.nnHer sugar levels dropped due to the stress of being interrogated in the back of a police car.nnBy the way, the cereal bar was about only 2 dollars… Really IGA for 2 dollars you placed a lady older than 80 years old with diabetes under stress and make her dropped her sugar levels? IGA lost 2 frequent customers, and the rest of their family that also used to buy there as well.nnSecurity failed reasoning, the IGA supervisor ignored the situation and banned this frequent customer from the store over a misunderstanding of 2 dollars and traumatized and humiliated an old lady with medical complications.nnFeel free to contact me any time to discuss this issue, no member of her family will ever put a step inside IGA until a solution is given or until legal advised is done. A letter to the news papers will follow as well to advise the customers of this erratic behaviour and lack of respect to our old people.
