Big fan of Hyland Cinema. Never too crowded. Always super friendly. Clean. Reasonable prices. Movies you can’t see anywhere else. Retro movies. Sometimes getting out and enjoying the big screen is worth it. My wife loves the layering of butter in the popcorn.
The absolutely finest cinema experience my wife and I had. Came to realise that is the oldest theatre in London. You get to enjoy a certain old world charm and are treated to an intimate movie watching experience like no other. The staff are warm and the popcorn with a drizzle of butter is so authentic that I now know what I was missing in the popcorn from all the fancy theatres/multiplexes. We look forward to watching even more movies here and hope that the theatre is preserved for years to come! Proud to be a resident of London Ontario.
I love the place! So intimate, not very big, not with these big, awful chairs in the other, noisy theatres. I love the selection of movies especially the music documentaries. Yes, it could use a bit of renovation but hey, we are still going through a pandemic. I enjoy this little movie place, a nice, get away place for me!
Seating is horrible. If a tall person sits in the front row of your seat, you cannot see anything on the screen. The sound system is not at all good. You cannot listen to any sound effects at all. The worst part is that there are no assigned seat numbers, hence you have to go very early to get a nice seat. They only have 40 parking spots at the back of the theater, when compared to the 350 seats of the theater. The parking lot is not paved and not marked at all. Not a well maintained theater. The prices of the tickets are also high.
Best cinema experience I've had. Reasonably priced admission and concession. To top it off the theater has an amazing retro vibe that sets it apart from any other in the city.
Always happy to watch a movie that the Highland brings in as they're often not mainstream, and very interesting. The Whale was beautifully performed. In particular. Brendon Fraser was absolutely entrenched in the character, so much so that tears flowed down my face for much of the show. The theater itself is getting a little tired and could use a facelift. I do hope at some point in time some fundraising occurs in order for that to happen.
Incredible cinema with best movies in the city, hands-down — whether contemporary, retro, or arthouse and more!. Also, their very reasonably priced concession is exceptional, as far as theatres go.
We went to see the movie, PS-1 today. The theatre was ok w.r.to seating but screen was good. However, we had a bad experience when it came to the seating. Although we reached early, like an hour ago before the movie started, we thought of picking up the tickets so that our seats would be confirmed. But, the tickets that were printed and given at the kiosk didn't mention a seat number. We went inside like 10 to 15 mins later and saw like only last 3 rows were occupied and thus proceeded by trying to occupy the 4th row from the last. However, a person has claimed that their friends would be coming and he had literally blocked like 8 seats! When I had complained about this to the person who is in charge of the seating arrangement, he says that if that is what he says we can't do anything about it. This is ridiculous. The seat number should have been printed on the ticket when you issue it at the kiosk or this option should have been given during online booking. It was a total mess today like each person claiming that someone or the other person is coming and literally we didn't have good seating positions available for people who were already there ...
Old theatre. Seats are too old. All the seats are in the same level and if someone tall sat in front of you it will be not easy to see the screen. There is a parking lot behind the theatre. Clean and tidy restroom in the lower floor. Overall just ok.
Best cinema in the city! Very friendly owners and great experience all around. We've booked a couple of events for staff at the cinema and they have always been a great success.
