This is probably the best HyVee I have ever been to. I was in Indianola so I thought I'd stop in and grab what I needed there. Yes it was a little expensive but HyVee in general seems to be about the most expensive grocery store. But the store was clean, well stocked, and there were plenty of helpful staff.......this is the one store that actually still practices "Helpful Smile in Every Aisle". Honestly, every aisle I went down I seemed to find an employee asking if I was finding anything or needed any help. Once I did respond that I was just looking for the potato chip aisle and that it was my first time in this store. A very friendly older gentleman said, "here I will show you" and he led me right to the aisle. Reading some of the other negative comments I am really confused as I didnt see any of the negatives they were pointing out, I have to wonder if they might have been in a different HyVee, Southridge HyVee for example, which is one of the worst Ive ever been to. I will definitely be back to this HyVee. I dont mind the 15 minute drive to Indianola for the much much better store.
Parking lot is very dangerous. I’ve almost been hit twice with people that want to go down the one way lane next to the area that faces the liquor and pharmacy part of Hy Vee. Since people can’t seem to comprehend what a big arrow is, maybe the store needs to put an actual sign up. Maybe use small words on the sign too.
Good food, but it took a super long time to get it. The ticket times, for all the people ordering, were outrageously way too long.
Clean, well stocked, staff was generally ok.
Servers need major training. The order up front and expect a tip is pretentious. Especially since we got no service. They could refill the coffee station that you serve your self at. We had to get our own silverware, and had to wait for some to be clean. Had to ask for steak sauce 3x, butter for pancakes and syrup multiple times....why ask for a tip when you are expected to do it a yourself or just ot receive what you ask for. Rant over
No servers to speak of. Paid up front. Waited over half hour for breakfast. Asked for Heinz 56 sauce, woman walked away ans never brought any. Bus boy had no clue where to get it from. If it's going to be self serve, set all sauces that people might want.
We are just passing through and had planned to stop for the night at Walmart but they no longer allow RV overnights. Hy-Vee was very accommodating, allowing us to park next to their retaining wall for the night. Since we were there, we went shopping. OMG, loved this store. Not only are my fridge and ice chest fully loaded but we indulged in their restaurant/deli. I had the all you can eat Salad/Fruit/Soup/Taco Bar which was fresh and flavorful at a good price. So much fun to be able to sample so many items. My husband opted for a personalized pizza and he was thrilled. Lots of leftover pizza to squeeze into our fridge. Loved the store. They had the best store deli I have ever been to and hands down the most pleasant and helpful employees. And the fresh donuts.........
Bagger and cashier watched as my wife and I put our groceries in our cart. Pure laziness. Then to go to the in store Starbucks only yo be treated as if we were inconveniencing them. Maybe Fareway and Scooters would appreciate our business. Now go ahead with your generic response.
The manager lukas was absolutely rude and unprofessional. I understand the cashier line gets backed up but he literally was asking my excuse not to use the self checkout. When I told him I like to use the regular check out he rolled his eyes. Vietnam vet here had my hat on but he gave no respect to me even being an elderly. Horrible and appalling. He was unbelievably rude. I’ll take my business elsewhere instead of Hy-Vees
Disappointed. Got the hyvee chinese #2 combo 2 entrees+1 side for $7.50. I got orange chicken and peppered pork. The peppered pork was literally just 1 piece of pork on top and the rest was just green peppers and onions see photo. seriously? I am all the way home now and was going to share this with another person but now that is not happening. And it's not like I'm going to drive back to get another scoop of pork so I guess all I can do is complain on here.
