Story

Hutch's Dingley Dell founder William Hutchinson started his first hamburger eatery in 1946 after serving as a pilot in the C.A.F during WWII. Hutch, as he was known, along with his wife Marg leased the Harvest Moon Clear Lite and immediately began building a reputation not only for great food, but also for their strong community involvement.
In 1950 they bought the Dingley Dell property which moved them down the beach. This property and came with cottages and cabins. Hutch turned the main house into the Hutch's Dingley Dell restaurant, combining the two names, and continued to serve up great hot dogs and fresh hamburgers in that location for nearly four decades. Hutch's Dingley Dell survived while other restaurants did not.
In 1990 Hutch's made one more move down the beach to their current location. This building allowed them the space to combine the fish and chips and hamburgers under one roof and also expand the seating from the previous 7 booths to 35.
Since 1946, Hutch's has continued to build a reputation for fabulous fish and chips, hamburgers, hot dogs and fresh cut french fries. Hutch's is still family owned, and still involved in the community.

One of the best fish and chips ever had!!! The portion was also really big. The burger was delicious... Love the atmosphere there, great scenery, everything!! Will definitely go back whenever we pass by!
Hutch’s is a staple for Hamilton and has been here for decades. I always enjoy coming here. Always a crowd in the summer for the perfect location. It’s well priced and you get a nice portion. The fish and chips unsure of the kind of fish is good. The batter is still too thick and wish it was lighter. The fries are awesome. They are different as they are thicker cut but it adds to the charm of the place. The tables are generally tight but it’s fine. They have some condiments at that table and if people are respectful they are in good shape. The milkshakes are very good. The restaurant is run well and I give it a 5 star because you pay for what you get. The prices are not out of this world and the service is good. I would like to see some gluten free options so they need to get with the times on that.
Always love this place. Great food and friendly staff. This is such a nostalgic fast food place with the best fish and chips. They also have great burgers. They can get really busy but they are super organized. Seating inside and out. Great view of Van Wagner beach and lake Ontario. Highly recommend trying this place. Wheel chair parking and accessible. Reasonably priced meals.
Ordered a one piece fish and chips plate with a side of coleslaw. Absolutely delicious! The staff who work here are incredible and deserve so much praise. A very nice staff member opened the doors for us as we were leaving the building and she was so friendly and caring. Clean environment and very accessible for my seniors such as my grandparents who joined me. What a great experience - I highly suggest!
Finally! The best F&C so far! Shared a Large F&C. Generous serving of two pieces fish and lots of fries. Particularly love it with the tartar sauce. Nice view of Lake Ontario too!
Had a wonderful time down memory lane with friends visiting from out of town. They use to live in the area and had not been back to Hutch’s on the Beach for almost 20 years. Outstanding service, food and atmosphere. Made our friends so happy to revisit a very happy piece of their past. You really can't go wrong with Hutch’s. It's a history landmark of Hamilton no matter the time of year, this place definitely has heart. Thank you all for the wonderful experience and memories.
Every time I drove past this place the parking lot was always full. Came here later around 8pm and it was still busy. The restaurant is broken up into two halves, which was a bit confusing at first. Fish and chips were actually some of the best I have had and the wait wasn't too long, maybe 10 minutes. Liked the decor and the restaurant was very clean considering how busy it was. I can't really fault it for being busy since it's clearly a popular spot.
Loved the location set just by Lake Ontario, plenty of seating with a retro vibe inside. Big portions for a fair price. However the fried fish in fish n chips combo we found to be very oily & it took away from the enjoyment of the food
Initial 2 visits made us think it was Clean, easy to order, food was pretty quick, and bathrooms that are large and clean. But staff are horrible teenagers rushing to get home and often close early or neglect customers. Our fries were cold and old and not well done our fish and chicken was hot and fresh. Overall some of the worst fries I've ever had. We were ignored at the counter when bringing the cold fries to their attention and we were told 'oh we only serve fresh" they were old undercooked cold fries maybe mixed with a few fresh. We were completely insulted by the food quality and mostly staff. STAFF IS HORRIBLE. We Had 2 good experiences prior but this time asked for out money back and left when it became q hassle involving 3 staff members just to get replacement fries. WE WILL NEVER RETURN TO HUTCHES. Atrocious management. Felt like a real " go F" yourselves attitude. Insane for $30 of food.
We loved this place. Such a nice dine-in and, if you are at beach, you can hear when your order is ready. The price is great, menu with many options and the food was good. The restaurant was full and they are very efficient.
