A quaint little museum showcasing the Wendat art and civilization. Loved the village that they've recreated to show how the first nations people lived back in the 18th century!
If you like to learn about our great Canadian history, you must see this place. I loved it. It might be a little bit boring for toddlers since they don't have the passion for letting you read the signs at the museum.nI enjoyed it so much, thanks to my husband, who kept our toddler occupied while I was exploring the museum.
The museum gives a general overview of Huronia. The exhibits are, no pun intended, a bit dated. The village is an ongoing labor of love. It really gives a sense of what life was like for this particular area.
I loved this little museum. I felt like I was given the key to the city...literally.nnBecause it is fortified with logs, it was really hot in there. I got to see first hand what a village of the Wendat people looked like. There was signage everywhere telling me what everything was and lots of information regarding their lives. I was also given a map clearly marking each structure and what it's use was.nnAfter the tour of the village, I headed inside to the indoor museum. So much boat history, lots of photos, models of boats and ships and artifacts.nnArtworks lined the walls, more artifacts of the Wendat peoples, toys, clothing and other surprises from an earlier time.nnEnded my tour in the gift shop. Lots of history books if ships and of the area, among others. Other trinkets available as well.nnI enjoyed my visit.
Great little walk through history with a lovely gift shop. The gift shop features gifts and collectibles from the surrounding local exhibits and attractions. An added lovely surprise was the little used book shop where I purchased 3 paperbacks at $1.00 each I can't pass up the opportunity to peruse a local pre-loved collection!
