The museum gives a general overview of Huronia. The exhibits are, no pun intended, a bit dated. The village is an ongoing labor of love. It really gives a sense of what life was like for this particular area.
If you like to learn about our great Canadian history, you must see this place. I loved it. It might be a little bit boring for toddlers since they don't have the passion for letting you read the signs at the museum.nI enjoyed it so much, thanks to my husband, who kept our toddler occupied while I was exploring the museum.
Great little walk through history with a lovely gift shop. The gift shop features gifts and collectibles from the surrounding local exhibits and attractions. An added lovely surprise was the little used book shop where I purchased 3 paperbacks at $1.00 each I can't pass up the opportunity to peruse a local pre-loved collection!
This is a little gem. If you want to visit a small museum staffed by people who are knowledgeable, hospitable and passionate about their history don’t miss this museum and Wendat village. We were treated to an impromptu tour and historical interpretation by Calvin at the Wendat village. Calvin had a seemingly endless amount of knowledge about the traditions and cultures of the Wendat people. He paused his work restoring the palisades to share his knowledge and answer our questions. We were blown away. Brian in the museum was so helpful and clearly enjoyed his work, his colleagues and the museum. Although we showed up at the end of the day on Friday he encouraged us to take our time and made us feel so welcome. This museum is a credit to Midland which we found beautiful at every turn. Don’t miss the museum and Wendat Village on your visit to Georgian Bay.
A neat little museum that has got an indoor and outdoor component. 2021 pricing $7 per adult. Takes you through the way of life of the local Indigenous population once here. Very friendly staff. Well maintained. It is got a cute gift shop as well. Next to the museum is a beautiful little lake that I highly also recommend stopping by if you are visiting this museum! A neat spot in Midland for sure!
