Story

The Hudson Valley Islamic Community Center (HVICC) was acquired on May 15, 2006. The 50,000 square foot Center, built on 7 Acres of prime property in the Mohegan Lake area recently opened its doors to the community. The passing of Emad Al Jamal, beloved brother and son of members of the Hudson Valley Muslim Community, on the first day of Ramadan in 1999 triggered the founding of the Center.

Members of this community have been involved in Islamic and social responsibility projects for many years. The Hudson Valley Islamic Community Center plans to continue in this path. It is a big place a center for use in different activities. Lot of spaces can be used for your activities or an event. If want to schedule and price Visit on a Friday or Saturday evening to speak with coordinator Ask for Mrs Clark
I wanted my son to have swimming lessons in a pool not a lake. A friend recommended JCC after signing up her own 3 kids. My son took lessons for 3 months. My husband started going so he could take advantage of the free swim. The staff was always warm and welcoming. They were flexible when my son missed a lesson and most important, he's learning how to swim! The pool was cleaned regularly and the locker rooms were always clean as well. This is a great place for swim lessons and they have many other programs available for children as well as adults. It' s been a great experience for my son and I plan to continue because of the results we've seen in his confidence and ability to swim. This Community Center is under rated, it's a great value and I feel fortunate to have access to what it has to offer.
I would give 0 stars because 1 star is too much already. Ever since the management changed from JCC to HVCC, they slashed the open swim times and squeezed in the lap swimmers and lesson time along with the open swim. Our family are members for the past 5 years but now I am seriously thinking of stopping this and moving the kids over to a different activity. I cant even begin to count the number of times we were turned away due to lifeguard deciding not to show up or other un-announced closures. The open swim times are also very family-unfriendly with times from 3:30 to 6 on 3 weekdays for a big chunk of the year. I cannot see how working parents or school going kids can get to the pool and get meaningful swim time in this period. Also zero weekend swim times! I think maybe the need to rename the pool to snappers pool and stop family memberships altogether. If I had known I wouldnt even have renewed this membership.
My girls and I were invited to come to a Tea Party at the JCC last year by a friend who's also None Jewish because her kids were going. My daughters were excited when they found out and so we paid and went to the party. My friend forgot to mention that we have to dress nicely for it and we came from playing at the park so my girls and I were all wearing casual clothes. The people around stared at us like we looked terrible and made us feel unwelcomed. To make it even worse, when we were going to purchase tickets for a raffle, the lady behind the table covered the prizes and tickets with her arms and told us the raffle is for "members" only. That was plain RUDENESS!!! We have money to buy their tickets and the items being sold at the entrance but they still looked at us like we were so poor we didn't belong there. NEVER AGAIN will I take my girls to such a place of judgment! We have other Jewish friends who don't act that way. They even warned us not to attend any Jewish activities unless they are there with us. Not sure why the people at JCC are that RUDE!
These people are totally rude , that's all I can say . They type of attitude they posses is one of "I'm doing you a favor". They are not welcoming and they have no respect . The rabi shouldn't even be a Rabi. Spiritual leaders are supposed to be kind, compassionate, and respectful. My family had an event here and they showed nothing but disrespect and instead of being welcoming they carry dirty looks on their face. When being spoken to they don't make eye contact, if they do thry look at you in such a disrespectful manner. Don't give this place your buisness.
The event planner that was the point of contact in September of 2017 was unprofessional; he never called back after numerous attempts to schedule our event. Unfortunately I ended up chosing another venue due to the lack of communication on his end. The other place was perfect.
I loved swimming there the pool was clean and warm . The staff was great and encouraging. The facilities were a great asset for Poughkeepsie. It is sad that it is closed more than it's open now..I would rate it five stars if it was still available.
the basketball court is great for practicing havnt tried the pool but im sure its great
Don't waste your money here the basketball gym or something here is always rented there just a profit organization
MID HUDSON AREA ONE DAY CONVENTION 5/4/19 THE STAFF WAS GREAT, THEY WELCOMED US WITH OPEN ARMS.
